Flipster brings digital magazines to HHS
Mr. Robitaille surveyed staff this fall to determine which magazines would be used for curriculum integrations. Based on the survey results, the HHS media center subscribed to 24 titles through the remainder of this school year. Based on usage statistics, Mr. Robitaille intends to subscribe to Flipster magazines on a more permanent basis next year.
To view our Flipster collection, visit the following link on the HHS Library website:

20 formative assessment tools for your classroom
Most of us have heard of Kahoot. Or perhaps Flipgrid (which is extremely awesome). But did you know that there are dozens of other formative assessment tools available that allow you to gamify your review sessions?
If you'd like to peak at some of the other formative assessment tools you could be using, check out the blog post at:

I love working with teachers to set up and implement formative assessment tools. Contact me if you want a hand in using one of these gems.

Open up the world with Google Tour Builder
Google Tours are easy to create. Let Google hold your hand as you plot map points, write text, add photo albums, and add YouTube videos. Once completed, tours can be shared with a simple weblink. Google Tour Builder has a gallery of completed tours that provide excellent examples.
I recommend creating a tour yourself. But I also see a lot of potential for having students create their own Google Tours. They could march through history, measure distances, learn about scientific breakthroughs, visit art museums ... the possibilities are truly endless.
As always, let me know if you want me to work with you on implementing this amazing resource with your students.

teen wellness and mental health resources available
Users can sign into the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) by clicking the Google sign-in button. From there, users can select the Teen Wellness category to display over 30 e-books on a variety of topics. Some of the topics include stress, learning disabilities, LGBTQ issues, divorce, depression, suicide, and issues involving drugs and alcohol. Students can view the books on any web browser. There are no limits to how many students can view each book simultaneously.
You are encouraged to keep these resources in mind as we look after the overall health and well-being of our students.

makerspace marketplace preparing its launch
Makerspace students are designing products with 3D printers, laser engravers, a vinyl cutter, and a CNC milling machine. We are creating Hudson Explorer themed items, but we can make pretty-much anything the customer wants.
Some of the items we can make include:
- Vinyl decals
- Vinyl signs for hanging on doors, windows, etc.
- Keychains
- Laser-engraved coffee mugs
- Laser-engraved drinking glasses
- Christmas baubles
- Drink coasters
- Rubber stamps
- Wooden signs
- Plaques
Mr. Robitaille is in the process of working with students to create a Marketplace catalog. We will produce some standard Explorer-themed items, but we will also take orders for customized items. We can add names, logos, and often photos to objects. We can design something from scratch as well. If you can dream it, we can make it!
Mr. Robitaille will soon publicize a Makerspace Marketplace catalog and price list. Please reach out to the Makerspace club if you have any ideas for products you would like to create.
