Windows Maps

Maps is your guide to everywhere. Find your way with voice navigation and turn-by-turn driving, transit, and walking directions. Search for places to get directions, business info, and reviews. Tour the world virtually with breathtaking aerial imagery and 360-degree street-level views.

Below are some tips and tricks you can use in your classroom.

Open Maps, select Map views, and then choose Road or Aerial. Select Tilt to add 3D perspective. Select Traffic to see which roads to avoid.

In Maps, select Directions, then type place names or addresses in the A (Starting point) box and B (Destination) box, then select Get directions.

In the Maps app, draw a line between two points on the map to get the best route. Select Directions on the Windows Ink toolbar to get started.

Measure how far you just ran or the distance across the lake. In the Maps app, select the Windows Ink toolbar > Measure distance, and then draw a line along the route you want to measure.

Open Maps to Road view, and select Windows Ink toolbar. To use your finger, mouse, or a stylus with any of the Windows Ink tools, select Touch writing, select a tool, and then write what you want.

In Maps, add places like your home or work to Favorites to get directions quickly. To add a favorite place, select Search, type the name or address, and then select Save > Favorites.

In Maps, select Search, then type the address or name of a place you want to find. Repeat this with another address. The two places appear on different tabs at the top.
