FROM DOAN'S DESK...
It has been a great start to the school year with the students' first days back in classes. I want to send a huge “THANK YOU” to Justin Abbott and Taryn Cawlfield who are the faculty sponsors that coordinate our Freshman Orientation Day. They did so much in organizing the 360 student leaders and providing an excellent day for our incoming 9th graders. Today we hosted class meetings to go over various norms and expectations for students in their navigation of hallways, classrooms, lunchtime, and even the parking lots. Things will continue to happen quickly as our fall sports teams already compete with games and matches almost every day of the week. I am excited to get to continue to meet more people at school and events so I can gain experience with the traditions of the Monarch community. Along the way, I will also look for opportunities to add or change things in ways that elevate the student experience.

There are color coded parking spaces:
Yellow and Numbered Spots - Staff
White Spots - Students
- Parking on campus is a privilege.
- We also strongly recommend carpooling or having your student walk, ride their bike (bike racks are found between MK8 and MHS), and/or utilize the available BVSD transportation or SmartRide options to help mitigate morning congestion and overall care for our environment.

YES, SCHOOL BREAKFAST & LUNCH ARE NOW FREE!!
**BREAKFAST & LUNCH**
Yes, school meals are now free! Other important cost savings available for families who qualify and complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Thanks to Colorado voters, school meals will be free for all BVSD students beginning in the 2023-24 school year.
Even though lunch is now free, it is still very important that families complete the free and reduced meal application, as it waives and reduces fees district-wide for families, can impact transportation for some families, and impacts important funding for individual schools.
It also qualifies families for a 50% reduction in Lifelong Learning tuition, and waived tuition for BVSD Online classes (excluding the $50 registration fee). Child Care families will continue to apply for financial assistance through the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).
Visit the Free and Reduced Price Meals webpage for information on applying for free or reduced meals or contact your school directly.
Families are also encouraged to visit the BVSD Help Center August 10-12 and 14-15 for assistance with free and reduced lunch applications, and additional enrollment support. Read more at BVSD.org.
ANNUAL DATA UPDATE
Due to our transition to a new enrollment software, SchoolMint, this year we are not requiring that families complete their Annual Data Update (ADU) via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year. We have already re-enrolled your student into the current grade at their school- no action is needed by parents.
If your student has any updated health needs or concerns, or if you need to submit an immunization record, please contact your school’s health office.
Families have the capability to change contact information or addresses in their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account at any time during the year.
The Help Center can assist families with any of the following:
- Enrollments
- Open enrollment applications
- Free and reduced lunch forms
- Infinite campus parent portal account set-up, password resets and general support
- McKinney-Vento team members will be on hand to help facilitate families experiencing housing instability
*Please note that transportation assistance is not available at the Help Center. For assistance with transportation inquiries please contact transportation@bvsd.org or 720-561-5120.
