Birthday CELEBRATIONS
Recap of Toys for Tots
On Dec 2, our College Prep students went to Washburn Tech to volunteer hours for "Toys for Tots." Students build and paint toys for Topeka families for the holidays.
Accepted to KU School of Engineering - College Prep Scholars
Three of our College Prep Students, Juan, Myles, and Gilbert received their general admission to KU and acceptance into the School of Engineering! They each qualified for the chancellor scholarship amounting to $20,000.Our fingers are crossed and hands clasped. Congratulations!
Congrats to Our Senior Scholar, Maya Welcher
Maya was one of the seniors who visited KU back in October, and she has received her acceptance to study marine biology/biology. Wait, there’s more! Maya has also received acceptance into Wichita State, Bethel University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hartwick College, University of New England, Oregon State, Hawaii Pacific, and the University of Tampa. Though her heart is set on the schools in the northeast, she’s waiting to hear back from a few more schools first before making a decision. Currently, Welcher's highest merit offer is $41,000.
Early College Washburn College Prep Scholar Surprise Visit!
Carolyn Parker is in her first year at Washburn University as an Early College Student. Carolyn is an 11th-grade scholar and enrolled at Washburn University. After two years, Carolyn will graduate with a High School Diploma from Topeka West High and an Associates' Degree in Liberal Arts from Washburn University. Carolyn dropped in today and surprised the College Prep team and her College Prep peers. Thank you for visiting Carolyn.
December Tie-Tying with Mr. Robbins
On December 14, Mr. Robbins, Dr. Macdonald, and Ms. Sarah Sharp visited College Prep to award two scholars a $75 gift card for the December Tie-Tying Contest. The 7th-grade winner was Aidan Hoffman, and the 8th-grade winner was Noah Babiera. Congratulations to our two winners!
"Ugly" Sweater Contest Winners
On December 14, as part of our holiday celebration, College Prep hosted an "ugly" sweater contest between all grades. The two winners received a $10 gift card. The winners were 7th grade scholar, Zoey Alegria, and 10th grade scholar, Gustavo Hernandez-Gacia.
December Holiday Social
On December 14, College Prep hosted a holiday social. Students enjoyed interactive games with each other and then enjoyed some snacks. Students also partook in a gift exchange amongst themselves.
DECEMBER AMBASSADORS
Our College Prep Ambassadors are an asset to the College Prep Academy. Ambassadors are selected monthly by peer consensus. Each candidate presents their candidacy to the class. The class then selects the best candidate based on presentation performance, attitude, and leadership qualities.

TCALC has started to accept Interest Forms for pathways for the 2023-2024 school year. If you are interested in pursuing a pathway next school year, please fill out the Interest Form.

What To Do When a student Will Be Absent?
