Trivium Academy Weekly Newsletter-Week of Dec. 9th
Please remember If your child has a fever of 100 or greater please keep them home from school. This is only the beginning of flu season and all of our sweet little ones love to share germs. With this in mind, please instruct your children how to cough or sneeze into their elbow. This will decrease the amount of germs spraying through the air.
As your children return to school after an illness, please do not send cough drops with them unless a doctor's note accompanies it . All medications even over the counter cough drops require a doctors note with instructions on the correct dosage to give your child.
As always if you have any First Aid concerns please feel free to contact me at 469-249-8290 or email me at tori.maki@triviumacademytx.com
Thank you,

Greetings 6th-9th Grade Choir Parents,
I hope this message finds each of you doing well. As we quickly approach our annual Holiday Concert, I want to send out a few reminders:
1) Concert will be Thursday, December 12th at 6:00pm, in the Trivium Cafeteria.
2) Although the students are aware, please help them to remember their uniforms:
- 6th Grade- Lite Blue Trivium Polo, khaki bottoms (pants/skirts).
- 7th-9th Grade Men: long sleeve white dress shirt with long red tie. Black slacks, black dress shoes, a belt, a clean white under shirt, black dress socks.
- 7th-9th Ladies: A black dress (no higher than knee level). Black dress shoes (no higher than 2"). Hair must be up and out of the face. No hair bows or items in the hair outside the color black. No large earrings( small hoops or studs are fine).
ALL STUDENTS: No perfumes or body sprays that may affect another persons allergies. Hair must be combed.
3) CALL TIME for all students will be 5:00pm. 7th-9th graders will not go home after school, but may bring their uniforms that morning into the choir room for storage. I am not responsible for any of their items.
Just like the fall concert, in between 4:00-5:00pm, the students may bring their own snacks or pay $2.00 for 2slices of pizza, it's completely their choice.
PARENTS, I NEED YOUR HELP!!
We need to obtain holiday cookies for the concert reception. Please bring your cookies in by Wednesday, December 11th.
These cookies must be store bought cookies, no home made please. Your contribution of holiday cookies for the concert will go a long way in helping to make this a special event for our kids.
The concert is titled: Let Peace Begin With Me. I'm sure you'd agree that in today's time of arguments , divisions and war, we need to take a moment to recognize that we are the change we've been waiting on. Let there be peace on earth, And Let It Begin With Me!
Thank you for your continued support. A great school, deserves great art.

Texas History for the Win!
In our Humanities classes, we do our best to bring history to life and give the students quality learning experiences that they won’t soon forget. Texas history is taught in both 4th and 7th grade. In November our 4th grade humanities teachers hosted their 4th annual Chili Cook Off! After studying explorers to Texas, students learned about Juan de Onate and his expedition in 1598. Onate, his soldiers, and colonists marched across the Chihuahuan Desert for 50 days. It’s believed that they had a day of Thanksgiving with the Spaniards and Native Americans and that chili was their meal. Students then put their creativity to the test by researching and writing their own chili recipe in small groups. In a collaborative effort, students brought in all the necessary ingredients and shared their culinary creations with each other. Teachers made the original version of the Texas chili, which wasn’t nearly as delicious as the student creations!
Our 7th grade students recently learned about the Old 300, the settlers who received land grants from Stephen F. Austin’s first colony in Mexican territory, with a culminating project of persuasive advertisements to recruit the original Texas settlers. Students also created their own tea stained letters and learning about point of view by writing as one of the original 300 about their experience. This project is so engaging and students always do an amazing job. Great job to our Texas history teachers in 4th and 7th grade!
CAREER EXPLORATION THROUGH NAVIANCE
Connecting students' interests to their potential career paths early ensures active participation in their own academic success and opens their eyes to the wide world of career opportunities. The career planning tools in Naviance (https://www.naviance.com) allow students to understand how their strengths, goals, skills, and interests can lead to exciting careers.
I will be working with 7-9th students and parents individually to get started so we have a path before their academic conference which will start in the spring.

Angie Rodriguez, Classroom Support Committee Chair
I have been married to my husband Greg for 14 years. I love being a mom to my son and daughter. Landry is in 6th grade and Liberty is in 4th grade. We are big Dallas Cowboys fans! We live in Plano and are proud to be original Knights.
This is my first year on PIE as the Classroom Support committee chair. Our committee utilizes lots of volunteers to support the teachers. Room Parents are needed for each classroom to help organize the Winter & Valentine's Parties as well as celebrate the teachers on their birthdays. I also help coordinate the Trivium Moms In Prayer group. This is an independent group that meets twice a month to pray for the staff and students of the school. I love getting to know the staff, students, and parents at Trivium.
My favorite things about Trivium is the small environment and caring staff. I love that my kids enjoy going to school each day. What originally drew us to Trivium was the creative approach that they have towards learning and we loved the idea of Genius Hour, Spanish for elementary, and two recesses!!
