North Syracuse Central School District's weekly e-news
Issue #21 | April 16, 2021
Hello North Syracuse Central School District Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Staff!
What a great week in the NSCSD! We were very excited to welcome our K-4 students back full time this past week and look forward to bringing grade 5-12 students back for additional in-person days starting next Monday, April 19. Be sure to check out some of the photos below and keep sharing your images so we can include more in next week's newsletter. Click here to submit your photos.
This past Monday, District officials presented their 2021-2022 school budget proposal to the Board of Education. The presentation was refreshingly positive considering the uncertainty of funding because of the COVID pandemic and its negative impact on the state economy.
This year’s state budget includes a significant increase in Foundation Aid, along with the state’s commitment to increase funding over the next three years and fully fund it thereafter. This news is encouraging because Foundation Aid shortfalls that have existed for more than a decade, have negatively impacted our children’s education.
Over those years, our community has advocated for the full funding of Foundation Aid. This year, however, our legislators were able to secure an additional $3.5 million in Foundation Aid for our District. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude for their efforts and I wanted to use this platform as a way of expressing my own thanks.
To Assemblyman Al Stirpe and Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter, as well as State Senators Rachel May and John Mannion, please accept my sincere thanks for advocating on behalf of our students.
Your efforts to address our students’, teachers’ and staff needs by providing this additional funding, have been exceptional and are tremendously appreciated. Our District is lucky to have you working on our behalf.
To our community members, if you would like to join me in thanking these outstanding advocates, please find their contact information on our budget website at www.nscsd.org/budget.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We will be sending additional budget information in the near future.
Sincerely,
Daniel D. Bowles, Superintendent of Schools

Wellness Wednesdays - Change and Possibility!
Because the NSCSD has many exciting changes happening, this week's Wellness Wednesday topic is about change and possibility. Visit our website by clicking here.
When NSCSD school buildings had to close their doors to students and staff in the Spring of 2020, the District started "Wellness Wednesdays" as a way of pulling families together in spite of COVID-19. As the 2020-2021 school year progresses, we need to connect now, more than ever, so we've gotten the "Wellness Wednesdays" band back together. The Wellness Wednesdays website will be our way of sharing resources, information and importantly YOUR thoughts, photos and artwork.
