Eastview WIN Time on Wednesday Afternoons in the Learning Commons
UPDATE: There will be no WIN Wednesday on January 3.
Starting Wednesday, November 1st, students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

ATHLETICS SCOREBOARD
BOYS HOCKEY
Eastview’s Boys Varsity Hockey team lost to the Chanhassen Storm 3-0 in a nonconference game held at the Victoria Ice Arena on Tuesday, December 19. Senior Goalie Gabe Otis stopped 45 of the Storm’s 48 shots to keep the game close against the speedy Storm, which is the #4 ranked team in Minnesota Class 2A hockey. Otis, who ranks among the state Class 2A leaders in wins, goals-against average and save percentage, made some spectacular saves for the Lightning. Chanhassen outshot the Lightning 48-21. Junior Forward Isaac Berberena and Senior Forwards Zach Wooten and Jordan Brothers worked for some good scoring chances, but the Lightning got nothing into the Chanhassen net. Eastview had six power play opportunities to two for Chanhassen. One of Eastview’s best scoring opportunities of the night was ruined when a Storm defender tackled Sophomore Forward Sam Wooten as he raced with the puck toward the Chanhassen goal in the third period. Although Wooten drew a penalty, the Lightning were unable to score on the resulting power play. Eastview returns to the Victoria Ice Arena on Thursday December at 7:00 p.m. to take on Holy Family, which currently ranks #10 in Minnesota Class 2A hockey.
The Boys JV Hockey Team headed to Victoria twice this week. On Tuesday they played Chanhassen. After 2 periods, the score was 0 to 3, Chanhassen. In the 3rd period, Chanhassen scored once more. #38 Nick Titus got a goal for Eastview with an assist from #40 Mason Spray. Zach Wakefield saw a lot of action facing 46 shots.
Last night, the team headed back to Victoria to play Holy Family. The boys played a defensive game with the score 0 to 2 after 2 periods. In the 3rd period, Holy Family scored 3 additional goals. #3 Cole Hille got Eastview’s only goal with an assist from #21 Cal Fritche. Ty Young saw 33 shots while in net. The Boys Hockey Team heads to Lakeville to play the Cougars on Saturday at Hasse Arena. JV game time is 1pm.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Eastview Girls Varsity Hockey
The Lightning pulled off a 1-0 win on Thursday night against the Western Wisconsin Stars to improve their record to 6-5. After a scoreless first period, Ellie Patterson scored the eventual game winning goal on a breakaway about half way through the second period. The biggest highlight of the night was Senior Goalie Lila Hanson making her 1,000th Career Save and earning the shutout win! The Girls Hockey Team has a busy winter break starting with a game Friday night in Litchfield and then playing in a tournament next week with games against Hastings, Hopkins/St. Louis Park, and Metro-South.
