Principal's Message
Beachmont Families,
We are finishing up another busy month at the Beachmont!
Families should have received progress reports on October 13th. Trimester 1 will conclude on November 22nd and we will be emailing report cards on December 1st. This will be followed up by Family Conferences on December 6th(details about family conferences will be shared in the coming weeks). Progress reports, report cards, and family conferences are all opportunities to learn about your child's progress and for students, families, and staff to set goals as we move forward in the year.
We wanted to share our recent DESE(Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) Accountability Report: https://profiles.doe.mass.edu/general/general.aspx?topNavID=1&leftNavId=100&orgcode=02480013&orgtypecode=6
We also wanted to share that Beachmont was ranked #134 out of roughly 1,100 public elementary schools in the state of Massachusetts in a recent US News World and Report: https://www.usnews.com/education/k12/massachusetts/beachmont-veterans-memorial-school-211054. Our Beachmont staff is up to the challenge to continue to foster a welcoming and challenging educational experience for all of our students!
As the temperatures continue to drop, we want to remind families to send their students to school with a jacket, winter hat, and gloves. Our goal is to take students out at recess if the temperature is above 30 degrees. For families that are in need of assistance, we will be doing a coat drive in the coming months. Please email me directly(cfreisen@reverek12.org) if you are in need of jackets, hats, and/or gloves.
Finally, as the winter months approach, we tend to see an uptick in student illness due to a variety of reasons(ex. flu, COVID, strep throat, cold, etc.) Please make sure you are calling the school if you know that your child will be absent. Please also keep a close eye on the number of days that your child is absent. We report all absences to the state. The state law for student attendance stipulates that students are not supposed to miss more than 7 full school days in any 6 month period. If they do, they are considered chronically absent. Myself and/or Ms. Kruszewski will be setting up meetings and phone calls when students are absent more than 6 days. We encourage students to eat a healthy and balanced diet as well as getting plenty of sleep each night. It is a group effort to get all of our Beachmont students through the winter months.
Please read through the rest of the newsletter. We are very encouraged by the attendance at our monthly parent coffee. Our next Parent Coffee will be taking place on Wednesday, November 29th, at 8:45am. We will be joined by members of our Special Education Department to discuss the various services that we provide at the Beachmont School.
Its a great day to bee a bee!
