Carver's Weekly Update
Week of Monday, November 14, 2022
Veterans Day at Carver
American Education Week - November 14 - 18, 2022
Virtual Reality Learning
Virtual reality goggles and Z Space are innovative virtual reality learning experiences that students at Carver are using to bring a whole new level of interactive learning. In Mr. Volk's class, students used virtual reality goggles to explore scenes from Jack and the Beanstalk as well as outer space and Bryce Canyon. Students had so much fun trying to climb the beanstalk, and going inside the giant's castle to look for the Golden Goose. Students also used Z Space in Mrs. Ward's class to explore different types of military helicopters during their Boot Camp day. Mr. Rogers, Director of STEM Education for F1S, came to Carver and provided professional development with both of these teaching tools and provided insight on how teachers can enhance their lessons and make them more engaging by using the VR goggles or Z Space.
Thanksgiving Play
Carver 4th and 5th grade students will proudly present a Thanksgiving Play. The play brings to life the meaning of Thanksgiving and the history behind the national holiday. Fifth grade students will be featured as early settlers and Native Americans. They will give insight as to what life was like on the Mayflower and on the early settlements in American. Fourth graders will sing songs to accompany the performers. This is play is free and open to all Carver families on Thursday, November 17th at 6:00 p.m. Students will perform a second time on Friday morning for students in 2nd - 5th grade.
