Principal Corner
We’ve had a busy start to this school year. It’s been a pleasure to work with our students and see how they’ve grown in so many ways over the summer. It can be an exciting time to come back together again after time away and it can also be challenging.
What impresses me about our students as a whole, is their ability to have empathy for one another. I saw it this week in many different places. Students who were running for student council had to give a speech to their entire grade level. The audience was respectful and cheered for each candidate. We also had students who showed concern for their classmates and then steered them to someone who could help them. Without even talking about having empathy for others, many of our students do it naturally. We've also included more information about Empathy this week - be sure to check out the newsletter linked below from Capturing Kids Hearts.
There is a tremendous amount of information for parents and students this week - please be sure to check it out and let us know if you have any questions. I hope everyone enjoys the last long summer weekend with your favorite people.

OHS Links
LINKS is a peer-to-peer program where general education students partner up with students in the Level 2 and Level 3 special education programs to help them navigate throughout their school day. This trimester we have over 40 high school students taking LINKS as an elective class where they will learn about various disabilities while supporting a peer for a class period. Each week we will be celebrating the hard work of these phenomenal students by showcasing a LINK of the week. Congratulations to our first LINK of the Week, Scottie Durr!
