Art Gallery Open for Visitors
We are delighted to invite parents and carers to come and view the artistic achievements of all the children at our very first Ripon Cathedral Art Gallery. The gallery will be open at the times listed below and we kindly ask that parents stick to these times so that we don't have overcrowding in the school corridors.
Monday 3rd July, 2:30 - 3:10pm - parents and carers of KS2 pupils
Tuesday 4th July, 9:00 - 9:30am - parents and carers of EYFS and KS1 pupils
Wednesday 5th July, 9:00 - 9:30am - parents and carers of KS2 pupils
Thursday 6th July, 2:30 - 3:10pm - parents and carers of EYFS and KS1 pupils.
Please can visitors to the Art Gallery come to the main school entrance, where pupils from the Arts Council will be ready to greet you. We would be very grateful of any comments and feedback regarding the artwork, arts in school in general and the art gallery, so that we continue on our journey to provide the children with a curriculum rich in creative opportunities.
Year 6 River Exploration
The River Skell Trust came to work with Year 6 as part of their geography topic, ‘Rivers’ on Tuesday. We learnt about how rivers work, including the water cycle, flooding, and wildlife habitats, specifically looking at the route of rivers local to us. We also explored a sample of stream water and looked at the invertebrates which are found in rivers, using identification charts to find out which creatures we had. We discussed the problems of water quality and aspects of healthy rivers, learning how precious water is, as only 1% of all the Earth’s water is usable for humans!
Stars of the Week
Congratulations to this week's stars!
Reception - Archie for showing caring and kindness to others.
Year 1 - Gracie for always being such a kind and caring friend and setting a wonderful example whilst representing our school at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
Year 2 - George for putting lots of work into his body language, facial and vocal expressions in our production practices, and being an excellent role model to Year 1, Reception and Nursey!
Year 3 - Primrose for a fantastic start to life at Ripon Cathedral School. She has shown enthusiasm in every lesson and settled in amazingly quickly.
Year 4 - Robson for his determination and 'can do' attitude in his end of term booklet and in practising performance solo.
Year 5 - Alanya, Eva and Semas for brilliant attitudes to working in the Year 4 classroom this week.
Year 6 - Starla for producing a fantastic landscape painting of Ripon Cathedral using acrylic paint.
Can Love Change the World?
- Yes because if we showed more love to each other there would be less wars and the world would be more peaceful.
- Yes because we could irradicate poverty. If rich greedy people showed love by sharing their wealth the gap between the poor and rich would be reduced.
- Yes because if we showed more love for the world we could probably solve the problems of global warming and pollution.
- Yes because love makes the world a calmer place and God would want us to love his world and the people in it because he loves us.
- Yes because it will create a kinder place for everyone to live and no one will be lonely.
- Love can change the world if everyone shows love to everyone and everything.
- Love can change the world, but it won't change it for the better if people love doing things they shouldn't be doing.
Rock Pool Tuesday Evening Arrangements
Summer Production Tickets
For both the EYFS/KS1 and KS2 performances, in the first instance and in the interests of fairness, we have offered up to three tickets per family (total, not per show or per parent/sibling). This is so all children have the chance to have three family members to see them perform and is limited due to keeping safe seating arrangements in the school hall. However, if tickets are not sold out, we will offer further tickets.
EYFS and KS1 parents will receive their tickets on Monday (everyone will receive their ParentPay order up to three tickets). Currently, we think that more tickets will be available for the afternoon shows and will release them on Monday as soon as we are able. The evening show is already sold out!
Year 3 Sandwich Stall
Oscar's Summer Holiday Club
Week 1: Tuesday 25th to Thursday 27th July
Week 2: Wednesday 30th to Thursday 31st August
Please note that the club runs from 9am to 4pm and booking is essential. If you have not used Oscar's before, please find further details on the school website by clicking below. Booking is for all three days in the first week (£50) and for both days in the final week (£35). Therefore, you only need to book the first day to reserve a place for both/all three days.
Parents will probably be aware that staffing costs have risen. In order to avoid an increase in the charge to parents and to secure staffing more easily, we have shortened the day by an hour but will provide a few more snacks. Details will follow to those who book.
