Yearbook Update
Cimarron 8th grade parents: We know how wonderful your children are but why not let everyone else know by placing an ad in the 2024 yearbook? Congratulating and sending off your 8th grader to high school with a recognition ad in the yearbook has become a tradition here at our school and we just wanted to remind you that the special early bird discounted deadline for submitting your photos and message is next Tuesday, November 21st. Don’t miss out on this special opportunity and especially this chance for the best pricing. For more information and/or to submit your ad, click here
A Note from our Registrar
Any person picking up a student must be listed either as a household member or as an emergency contact in the student profile. If someone is picking up your student, and they are not listed as an emergency contact, the student will not be released until we have written permission from a parent, which will cause a delay in the release time. To avoid these delays, please verify your student’s emergency contact list in Infinite Campus by following these steps:
- click the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner
- click More at the bottom
- click Demographics
- When you scroll down under each student profile, you will see the people listed as Non-Household Relationships for your student.
- If you want to add or remove emergency contacts, please complete this request form. You will receive a confirmation email once a contact has been added or removed.

Healthy Kids Colorado Survey
Between November 27th through December 15th, middle and high school students in Colorado, including ours, will take the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey. Developed by multiple statewide agencies, this survey asks students about their diet and exercise habits, substance use, mental health, and other health topics . Parents and guardians have until December 8th to opt-out if they do not want their student to receive a survey. More information, including a copy of the surveys, FAQs and an informational video, is available HERE.
If you would like to review the survey your student will be taking, that is available HERE.
Don’t want your student to take the survey? Parents must opt their child out if they do not want their child to participate. To opt out please see THIS link.
Support Your Child in Making Healthy Decisions

Teaching Problem Solving Skills During the Holidays
Problems always seem to arise more frequently during holiday seasons and these can create stress for everyone involved. Love and Logic believes times like these are opportunities for teaching life’s lessons to kids. To paraphrase an old saying about fishing:
Solve a problem for your children and you give them a solution, teach your children how to solve problems and give them solutions for a lifetime.
If children are going to thrive in our increasingly complex world, they need practice solving as many problems as possible. The following steps are designed to get kids thinking more about their problems than we do.
Step 1: Provide a strong and sincere dose of empathy.
Empathy allows the child to stay calm enough to solve the problem and learn from solving it on their own. Experiment with saying something like: “Oh no. This is a problem. I bet that’s really upsetting.”
Step 2: Hand the problem back.
After you have proven that you care, ask: “What do you think you might do to solve this problem?” Don’t be shocked if the child mumbles, “I don’t know.” Which leads us to the next step.
Step 3: Ask permission to share what “some kids” have tried.
Avoid giving suggestions until you have asked: “Would you like to hear what some other kids have tried?”
Step 4: Provide two or three alternatives for solving the problem.
Remember to avoid resistance by saying: “Some kids decide to ____________. How would that work for you?”
Step 5: Allow the child to solve the problem.
Resist the urge to tell the child which alternative to pick. End the conversation by showing confidence in the child: “Good luck! If anyone can figure it out, I know you can. Let me know how this turns out.”
