Community Check-In
North Rockland Central School District
North Rockland Families:
This has been the perfect pre-break week, celebrating the 100th day of school, Black History Month, taking trips and bringing home another round of section wins.
As the Mid-Winter Recess begins today, I wanted to just take a moment to reflect upon the successes of the first portion of the school year.
Our students have really demonstrated the North Rockland tradition of excellence in the classrooms, on stage and across the various athletic arenas. So many programs have expanded or kicked off, the addition of SRO’s and new clubs like corn hole or gaming - which have even advanced now to the level of competing with other schools - just to name a few, show we truly have not missed a beat since September. Thanks to strong instruction, best practices teachers share and engaging lessons that motivate students to achieve, academically, NR students and faculty shine. We have the greatest teachers and staff for making all of this happen each day.
Reaching the 100th day signifies both the halfway point of the year and an important time for setting new goals and realigning a fresh outlook.
During the break I hope everyone - students, staff, parents and caregivers - use this time to relax and reset, as when we return we will be hitting the ground running towards the finish line of the 2022-23 school year.
Some helpful tips for taking on the next 80 days include:
Working smarter, not harder. The best way to combat feeling overwhelmed is to prepare in advance. Use downtime to plan.
Taking care of yourself mentally, emotionally and physically will set you up to tackle the rest of the year.
Make the endpoint your motivation. Laser focus on achieving your goal(s) by June and positive things will happen.
Look how far you’ve come. Revisit all your accomplishments (great and small) over the past six months and challenge yourself to achieve even more during the next six months.
Believe in yourself. It all starts with YOU. You can do it, don’t let anyone tell you differently.
The district continues to thrive. A direct result of the amazing work of our collaborative efforts as a school community. Collectively and NR Together our dedication, commitment to students and contributions ensure that NRCSD continues to be one of the best primary and secondary institutions for education.
See everyone back on Monday February 27!
Rockland Read-In
A community that reads together grows together!
It was a full house at Stony Point and Thiells Elementary today for the District and countywide Rockland Read-In, where students across Rockland dedicate time to reading books of their choice. The annual event promoting literacy is sponsored by our partners, Rockland BOCES.
Dozens of parents and very special guests including Rockland County Government Executive Ed Day, North Rockland Board of Education members Richard Fernandez and James Kraus, Superintendent Dr. Kris Felicello, Administrators, North Rockland Rotary members and even service dogs stopped by to visit, distribute new books and to read some amazing titles to our students! Giselle! 🐶
Meet Giselle!
Hi! My name is Giselle. I am about 2-3 years old. I am well behaved, take treats gently, love kids and all people. I am great with dogs smaller than me who are submissive. I am lovable and will spoil my new family with hugs and kisses. My foster mom says I am crate trained and fully potty trained. Because I still need to work on my jumpiness when I get excited, a home with older kids is preferred. I would be a great companion and would love to find my forever family. If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.hitor.org and fill out an application.
Gale 😻
Meet Gale!
A 7 month old, super friendly kitten that enjoys warm cuddles and head scratches. She loves being held and will make the best fur friend ever! She has wide owl like eyes and will make you fall in love with her instantly. If you are interested, please fill out an application at www.hitor.org.
