School News
Principal's Message
Dear Thomas Families,
Next week, there is no school on Tuesday, November 7. Staff will be in the building for professional learning, and our building will be open as a polling location.
Don’t forget to get out and vote on Tuesday! There are several issues on the ballot that are relevant to Dublin City Schools. No matter what you believe, please let your voice be heard– your vote counts!

FALL BACK
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour this weekend. Daylight Savings Time officially ends Sunday, November 5 at 2 a.m. Enjoy that extra hour!
FOOD DRIVE
Thomas Elementary will be hosting a food and toy drive the week of November 13 -17. All schools in Dublin will collect non-perishable items to be donated. Then, bus drivers and warehouse staff will help deliver the items to Dublin Food Pantry before Thanksgiving.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
The health clinic asks that if your child has a communicable disease (i.e. strep throat, flu, covid, pink-eye (conjunctivitis) that you please let them know. If you aren't sure… you can let us know their symptoms anyways. Thank you in this effort to keep the school healthy. You can email zook_mollie@dublinschools.net.

TRUNK OR TREAT
Thank you to everyone that attended the Trunk or Treat-- we had a blast! A special shout out to all our volunteers and donors.
WINTER PARTIES
We are starting to plan for our Winter Class Parties to be held on December 20. We are planning on creating a similar “Party in a Box” as in our Harvest Parties. We need ideas for crafts, games, and snacks for each grade.

VOLUNTEER/STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Help us to thank Jamie Neely and Julie Kinzel for being outstanding volunteers by providing our students, staff, and families with fun Fall activities and Claire Sobecki, School Social Worker, who helps our students and families with her positivity, smile, and care!
COAT DRIVE
Thanks to the generosity of our community the Thomas Girl Scouts will be donating 60 coats to the Capital Kids Organization. A lot of people will stay warm this winter thanks to you!

Garba Event Rescheduled
The Garba event at Jerome scheduled for this Saturday, November 4th has been RESCHEDULED to Saturday, March 2, 2024. If you have already purchased a ticket, be on the lookout for an email from Hometown ticketing. More details about the new date coming after winter break.

Riverside Drive Speed Limit Change
Enforcement of the new 25 mph speed limit on Riverside Drive, between Martin and Tuller roads, began Oct. 30. The new speed limit took effect Oct. 12, with a grace period to support awareness and education. Thank you for driving safely in our community!
Live Tree Donation
The City could use your help picking our 2023 holiday tree! Now, through Nov. 9, you can submit a tree for donation. The fir you’re proposing should be approximately 35’-45’ in height. Pine or trees with large gaps between the branches will not be accepted. Find out if your spruce fits our use https://bit.ly/494aDcX
Pumpkin Composting
Toss your jack-o-lanterns and decorative gourds when they start to get more goopy than spooky! The pumpkin compost bin is at the Service Center (6555 Shier Rings Road). Pumpkins will be accepted through Dec. 8. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3GvaEIJ.
