University Park Elementary Art: Kindergarten
UP Kindergarteners celebrated the 20th anniversary of Peter Reynold’s book, The Dot, by exploring all kinds of dot making. Students had fun cutting and gluing dots, drawing dots, stamping dots, painting dots, and even printmaking dots! Once finished, they proudly displayed their dot-tastic artworks in fancy frames that they created. The whole school joined the fun on International Dot Day by all wearing dots to school as well.
University Park Elementary Art: 1st Grade
UP 1st Graders kicked off the start of the State Fair of Texas by learning the history of Big Tex and interesting facts about the fair. Students drew images of the fairgrounds in the background before painting their sky with watercolor paint. Next, they drew & colored the giant cowboy and then cut out. Adding 3-D O’s to their cutouts gave their Big Tex artwork a three dimensional aspect that students loved!
University Park Elementary Art: 4th Grade
UP 4th grade artists are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about the holiday Dia de los Muertos and how it honors family ancestry. After designing their own sugar skull in their sketchbook, students are now re-creating their design with felt and wool roving using Needle Felting. Stay tuned for their amazing finished artworks!
