TK and Kinder practice Walk to Class Day

TK and Kindergarten Practice Walk to Class- Wed. August 17th 3-4pm
Due to our Secure Campus focus, families will drop off and pick up their students at their designated gates.
TK will drop off and pick up from gate #3.
Kindergarten will drop off and pick up from Gate #4.
Both of these gates are located on Van Buren.
On Wednesday, August 17th from 3-4pm, families can come to their designated gates and practice with their TK or Kinder student. How they will walk from the gate to their classrooms. Teachers will not be available during this time.
Registration Paperwork Information
Every year, we ask parents/guardians to update their student’s information for our records. At this time, we are asking you to complete/update your student's registration information on-line. You will find the Parent Portal under the Parents tab on the Lin Howe website. If you have previously accessed the Parent Portal, just log-in and go to "Register Online." You will be prompted to acknowledge and complete your child's 2022-2023 school year registration.
If you are not currently accessing the Parent Portal we will be emailing you the information need.
Again, the Parent Portal can be accessed under the Parents tab on the Lin Howe website starting on August 15th.
You will need to print, sign, and submit 2 documents to finalize registration.

We are asking that you return these documents by Friday, August 19th. You can turn them in by dropping them in the front office between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday-Friday. OR you may place the completed pages in a box that we will leave just inside the blue gate by the front office at any time.
We are not able to accept the forms by email.

Lin Howe Secure Campus- Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

What does a secure campus look like:
Lin Howe’s #1 priority is student and staff safety
Everyone on campus is accounted for, through sign in or attendance
Entrance and Exits are monitored by staff
All visitors are identified with badge/visitor pass
All staff members are identified with a badge
All volunteers are cleared and checked in through the front office
A secure campus allows staff to maximize instructional time
Lin Howe will invite families on campus on a monthly basis (see list of opportunities below)
LIN HOWE’S PLAN FOR A SECURE CAMPUS DURING SCHOOL ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
BEFORE SCHOOL:
Students will be dropped off at their designated gates monitored by staff members. Students with younger siblings may be dropped off at either of their designated gates and walk their siblings to their class. Any adults having a purpose to be on campus will need to check in through the main office.
Breakfast is served from 8:00 am – 8:30 am. The glass doors by the front office open at 8:00am. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria, daily. Breakfast is free for all students.
Staff Monitored Gates #1-#4 open at 8:30am
TK drop off is at Gate 3 and Kinder drop off at Gate 4. These gates are located on the Van Buren side of Lin Howe.
1st-2nd Grade are dropped off at Gate #1 and 3rd-5th are dropped off at Gate #2 on the Irving side.
Students should not be dropped off earlier than 8:30 a.m. unless they are eating breakfast in the cafeteria.
Students are expected to arrive at school by 8:37 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:45am. Gates to the school are closed promptly at 8:45 a.m. Students who arrive after that time must enter through the front office and check in with the office staff.
AFTER SCHOOL:
TK and K students
Older siblings of TK and K students can meet their siblings at the designated gates for pick up.
TK pick up will take place at Gate #3. The TK teacher and support staff member will bring the students to the gate.
Kindergarten Dismissal Procedures at Gate #4
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:05-3:25
Wednesday and Minimum Day 1:35-1:55
Please start the line at Gate #4 and continue the line toward the alley.
When you reach the front of the line, please tell the Support Team member your:

Your child’s first name
Please step to the opposite side of the line while waiting for your child.
Children must be picked up by 3:25. If you are late to pick up your child, please go to the Front Office at 4100 Irving Place. There you will sign out and pick up your child.
1st-5th Grade students
1st-5th Grade teachers and additional support staff members will monitor and bring the students to the release gates.
1st -2nd Grade students will be picked up from Gate #1.
3rd-5th Grade students will be picked up at Gate #2.
Gates will open at 3:05 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays. 1:35 on Wednesdays
Students are expected to leave for home or be picked up promptly upon dismissal. Teachers will walk students to their designated gates where they will be excused to go home. If your child is not picked up by 3:25 pm they will be brought to the front office. For safety reasons, students are not allowed to wait in front of the school or on the sidewalks.
Be sure that your child’s teacher knows where your child should go after school and keep him/her informed of any changes in your plan.
Student Pick up During the School Day
During the school day, students must be picked up by a parent or authorized adult who is listed in the Parent Portal as a Contact, or by written authorization arranged prior to the child leaving school.
VISITORS
ALL VISITORS MUST SIGN IN AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE. Visitors, including parents, field trip chaperones, and classroom volunteers, must first sign in at the office before entering campus. All visitors must wear a visitor’s sticker/badge.
