Holiday Candy Grams
This December, The Flash will be selling Candy Grams to spread kindness this holiday season. Before school and during lunch, for 1 dollar you can send a message to any student or teacher in the school along with a candy that will be delivered the following advisory day. Perfect for best friends, favorite teachers, or even that special someone. For more information check out the Candy Gram stations in the commons before school or at lunch. All proceeds go to Toys for Tots.

Need A Tutor?
Peer tutoring is available on Wednesdays in the Learning Commons after school! Math peer tutors will be available from 2:30-3:30. You can get support for math homework- bring your questions or assignments to work on with a peer tutor and/or small group.

New: Red Cross Blood Drive at Eastview on Friday, January 20
The greater Eastview community of parents, family members, and neighbors are invited to donate blood as part of the NHS-sponsored drive on Friday, January 20 from 7:00AM to 1:00PM in Eastview’s South Gym. Donation registration is completely online @ http://www.redcrossblood.org/give/drive/driveSearch.jsp Type “eastview” (our sponsor code), in the search box and the follow the online prompts. See John Kelly in C232 or email at john.kelly@district196.org with questions. Please keep in mind that there is no school on January 20, 2023. All ages 16+ are welcome to donate.
Need a Previous EVHS Yearbook?
The EVHS Library has an archive of yearbooks which are kept to chronicle our history. In addition, we have also received extra copies over the years that have not been picked up or used for other purposes. It is time to downsize these extra copies. Do you have a grad who didn’t get a yearbook or know a neighbor who would appreciate the memories? You can find a complete list of extra copies available here listed by year. If you would like to request one of these copies, please email evhs.learningcommons@apps.district196.org and we will set the copy aside for you to pick up. Feel free to share the link with anyone who may be interested. All books can be picked up at Eastview High School during school hours.
Cane's Fundraising Night Benefiting Eastview's "Seussical" Production 12/12
Stop by the Apple Valley Raising Cane's on Monday, December 12 from 4-9pm, mention the fundraiser at the register or put "fundraiser" in the special request section of you mobile order, and Cane's will donate 15% of sales to Eastview's winter musical, Seussical! Mark your calendars, set a reminder, text your friends and we'll see you there!

Noodles and Co. Fundraising Night for EVHS Senior Party 12/12
We are thrilled to be having a fundraising event on 12/12/2022 from 4-8 pm at the Apple Valley Noodles & Co. 25% of all qualifying online and in-restaurant sales will go directly back to our Class of 2023 Senior Party fund!
For online and Noodles Rewards app orders, guests can apply the coupon code, “GIVING25” in the Coupon Code line at checkout.

Host Families Needed for 2023-24 School Year
Host Families for 2023-2024: The Spanish Department is looking for host families for students from Spain for the 2023-2024 school year. Please contact Liz Perona, elizabeth.perona@district196.org, for more information.
Socks and Underwear Drive
FCCLA is working with the Drawer and NHS to provide socks and underwear for the homeless in Minneapolis and St. Paul. We are collecting socks in any size but especially thermal adult one and are in need of adult underwear sizes L-XXL. We will be collecting items through December 13th when we have our bundling session at EVHS. Items can be dropped off at the West Door or in C139. Class of 2023 Senior Families – We Need Your Help to Make Memories!
Do you want to help throw an epic 2023 Senior Class Party? To pull this off, we need your talents and expertise with a variety of different committees. Opportunities range from leading one of our various committees as a co-chair to any level of volunteering.
Co-chairs & executive leadership will attend monthly planning/organizational meetings. Our next meeting is this week; Wednesday, October 26th at 6:30PM in the party room at Cowboy Jack's in Apple Valley. If you are interested is being a committee co-chair/chair person, please take some time and fill out the volunteer form (https://forms.office.com/r/11q0Gx36iA ) and plan on joining us! New: Seniors with January 1st College Application Deadlines
The deadline for submitting requests for letters of recommendations or school reports to teachers and counselors so they can be completed before our Winter Break is Friday, December 16th. Students should plan accordingly as transcript requests are not processed over winter break.
Interested in Architecture, Construction or Engineering?
The ACE Mentor Program of America is a free, award-winning, afterschool program designed to attract district high school students into pursuing careers in the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries, including skilled trades. The group will meet every other Thursday from 2:45 – 4:45 pm in Room E163 at Apple Valley High School. The next meeting will be December 15th. Please complete this FORM if you would like to join.

Upcoming College Visits
UPCOMING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY VISITS
Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. These university/college or military visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

Eastview Varsity Boys Hockey vs. the Eagan Wildcats – December 6, 2022
Eastview Dominates the Wildcats from Eagan
The Lightning jumped on the Wildcats 1:13 into the game when Jordan Brothers #11 buried the first shot of the game from the left circle, with assists to John Kisch #5 and Zach Wooten #9. Tyler Cordes #6 made it 2-0 at 3:08 when he deposited a rebound as part of a mad scramble in front of the Eagan net, the lone assist going to Charlie Ortman #26. Shots in the first period ended 8-8. Eastview pounced early in the 2nd period on the Power Play (PP) at just 55 seconds, when Jordan Brothers #11 netted his second goal of the game on a back door feed, assists to Logan Opgrand #2 and John Kisch #5. Eastview finished the scoring in the 2nd period at 3:24 when John Kisch #5 scored on a sharp angled shot from the side of the Eagan net, assists to Zach Wooten #9 and Abram Johnson #33. Shots after 2 periods were 20 to 19 in favor of Eastview. Jordan Brothers #11 completed his hat trick at 6:42 of the 3rd period with a very skilled tip off the back wall, assists to Zach Wooten #9 and Logan Opgand #2, making to score 5-0. At 8:22 of the 3rd period, John Kisch #5 scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Zach Wooten #9 and Jordan Brothers #11, increasing the score to 6-0. Tanner Kronberg #17 finished the scoring for the Lightning at 11:30 from Tyler Cordes #6 and Zach Wooten #9, making the final score of the game 7-0. Final shots were 31-27 in favor of Eastview. Goalie Jay Svaren #32 earned his second shut out of season and the Lightning improved to 3-1. Eastview is back in action this Saturday at the Apple Valley Sports Arena hosting Farmington at 2:00 P.M.
JV SPORTS
The Eastview JV boy’s hockey team played Eagan on Tuesday night. After a scoreless 1st period, Eagan scored to make it 1 to 0 in the 2nd period. Eagan scored again in the 3rd to make it a 2 to 0 final score. Kaden Goff was in goal and had 33 saves during the game. The boys JV team take on Farmington on Saturday at Apple Valley Sports Arena at noon.
CLUB SPORTS
The Eastview Men’s Volleyball program has started off-season open gyms for guys who are planning on playing next spring, or guys who are thinking about it and want to learn more. Open gyms are on Sunday evenings from 6:15-8:00 pm in the main gym. Contact Coach Dehnel with questions – ryan.dehnel@district196.org
INTRAMURAL SPORTS
Intramural Basketball sign up is now available on MyPaymentsPlus. Sign up deadline is Friday, Dec. 16th. The Intramural Basketball season runs from Jan. 4th to Feb. 27th.
Team selection and an informational meet will be held after school at 2:45pm in C350 on Tuesday, Dec. 20th for 9th and 10th students, and on Wednesday, Dec. 21st for 11th and 12th grade students.

Spanish Club Meeting - 12/9
Spanish Club will have a planning meeting after school on Friday, December 9 in B326. We will elect officers, plan the December meeting and generate ideas for meetings for the rest of the year! All are welcome!
EVHS Debate Award Winners
We are pleased to share some good news from the debate team. The highlights: Eastview captured the MSHSL Championship in Classic Debate and also took runner-up honors. Allie Nathan & Faye Zhang are State Champions. Emily Hering & Rhea Saarang are State Runner-ups. Additionally, at another event Awa-Bilan Amarreh and Tirsit Enbackom qualified for the 2023 MSHSL Debate Tournament in Congressional Debate. Furthermore, there were many more award winners from Eastview in important season-ending events this past weekend (we were participating in three different post-season tournaments).
