Corbett Families,

Last week, our scholars competed the Week Two of The Lion Way-First 10 Days. This served to review and reinforce for our scholars our ACPSD and ALCMS schoolwide practices, procedures, expectations and consequences. Scholars were administered the MAP Reading and MAP Math assessments, practiced emergency drills, classroom team building activities, hallway transitions, classroom procedures, getting to know their teachers, reviewing handbooks, created #BE adjective posters, began content area instruction, etc. We want to be intentional in making certain our scholars are fully aware of our expectations of them.

This week, during Advisory, faculty/staff and scholars will begin our schoolwide book study on New York Times Best Seller, Wonder by R. J. Palacio. If you wish to purchase a copy of this book for your scholar, you may click the link above to purchase through Amazon.

As always, you are encouraged to remain in continuous contact with your scholar's teachers throughout each nine weeks. This will help to make the entire school year easier for you and your middle school scholar.

We look forward to continuing to work together for the success of our scholars throughout the year. Have a wonderful week!

Fall pictures will be taken Thursday, September 1st. Information was sent home with our scholars this past Friday. If you have not received the information, please speak with your scholar. You may also contact our Front Office.

We are excited to offer the opportunity for you to personalize a Happy Birthday message to any scholar (or employee) who currently attends or works at ALCMS. They will also receive a special card in the mail. The cost is $10. You have the option of selecting from 1 of 3 message options below.

All forms and payments should be given to Mrs. Tracey Johnson in our Front Office by 1PM at least 48 hours before you wish to have the announcement displayed. Should you have any questions, please contact our Front Office.

Updated Athletic Schedules were sent home with scholars Friday. Please use this schedule for planning your attendance at ALCMS Athletic Events.

Please review ACPSD's NEW Clear Bag Procedure effective immediately at all ACPSD Athletic Events. Should you have any question, please contact Coach Parrish Deans, ALCMS Athletic Director.

Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria beginning at 7:15 a.m. Any student wishing to eat should report to the cafeteria immediately upon arrival, but no later than 7:30 a.m.

All lunch will be served in the cafeteria.

As a CEP school, all ALCMS students are able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost. There is no requirement to complete a lunch application.

If you have not created a Parent PowerSchool Account, please do so. This will give you immediate access to student grades and attendance. If you are unable to, please contact Mrs. Cynthia Kenner-Milhouse, School Counselor or Mrs. Margaret Woods, Guidance Secretary for assistance. They may be contacted by calling our Front Office at 803.564.1050.

We now have 4 water filling stations that have been installed throughout our building. Scholars are encouraged to bring a bottle of water or a water bottle (to be filled) to school each day. Students will be permitted to fill/refill their water bottles during designated periods throughout the day. Our water fountains will no longer be used.

Our arrival procedures are as follows:

All walkers, car riders and bus riders are able to enter the building beginning at 7:15 a.m. each morning.

Car Riders- As a safety precaution, car riders may not be dropped off or wait outside of their car prior to 7:15 a.m.

Walkers - As a safety precaution, walkers should not arrive before 7:15 a.m. They will not be permitted to enter the building or wait outside of the building.

Please assist us in helping to keep our scholars safe.

Please Note: Students will be marked TARDY who arrive after 7:44 a.m.

All scholars will be dismissed from their seventh period class.

Bus Riders and walkers will be escorted to the bus lot by their seventh period teacher.

Car Riders will be dismissed to the front of the school. Please arrive at 2:50 p.m. Only ALCMS Scholars may be picked up from the ALCMS car line.

In order to minimize class disruptions during student instruction, any parent or guardian wishing to sign their student out early must do so by 2:00 p.m. on regular days (or 11:00 a.m. on early release days). After this time, students will be dismissed at 2:55 p.m. (or 11:40 a.m. on early release days).

Please Note: Only a Parent, Guardian or Alternate Adult as indicated on the student's registration information may sign the student out.
