Students were welcomed at arrival to school this week by a brand new Byam Elementary School rug at our entrance lobby!

We ask 3rd and 4th grade families to please plan any non-emergency appointments and family travel plans outside of the below MCAS assessment dates when possible:

The Byam Walkathon is back! We are excited to have Byam's biggest fundraiser and event in person this spring. Below if the walk-a-thon flyer that will also be coming home on Monday in backpacks. We hope you'll join us for this large Byam community gathering.

The Chelmsford Public Schools has purchased a resource for families that are in need of assistance in finding mental health professionals. Care Solace is an interface that helps connect people with these services. Please find further information in the family letter and flyer below.

What an amazing opportunity for our Byam students to have world renowned artist, Rob Surette, as our 3-day artist in residence this week! He spent time with each class to build a Lego mosaic while having a super positive and inspirational dialogue with the kids. Messages of self-empowerment and kindness toward others were the theme. The kids walked away with big smiles, excited about their part in the creation, and feeling good about themselves! Stay tuned for the big reveal of the mystery mosaic!

History was brought to life for the fourth graders during a trip to the Lowell Mills National Park. Students in Mrs. Babson's class visited the Lowell Mills. They participated in hands-on learning activities, and visited sites where history was made. Students had a guided tour of the Boott Cotton Mills and Boardinghouses where the Lowell "mill girls" and later immigrants worked and lived.

The Byam Walk-a-Thon is back! The event is being held on May 21st. Louie the Lion has been out walking laps to get himself ready! Registration packets will be coming out the week of April 4th. Students that complete their registration by April 8th, will be entered into a drawing for an Altitude gift card! All registration forms must be completed by Thursday, April 14th. Louie the Lion is looking forward to seeing you at the event!

Stop by Byam School anytime between 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday 4/28/2022 to view the amazing artwork created by our students this year. Every child will have work displayed. Kindergarten and 4th grade artwork will be displayed on the first floor. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade will have artwork displayed on the second floor. There will also be a lovely photo opportunity in the lobby, an art scavenger hunt, and some giant posters in the Art room where you can "Make Your Mark" with a doodle! You can also stop by the Scholastic Book Fair while you are at Byam!
