Updates from AMSA
February 26, 2024
A message from Mr. Hagerty, Principal of Fred Moore and Washington Campuses
Good evening Anoka Middle School families. This is Mr. Hagerty from AMSA with a few updates for you and your student.
AMSA will have two exciting leadership opportunities for our 7th grade students moving into 8th grade next school year:
The first is WEB or Where Everybody Belongs. WEB is an 8th grade leadership and mentorship program to help our current 6th graders transition into 7th grade at the Fred Moore Campus. WEB training takes place at the end of August. Applications are avaialble in the Assistant Principal office and are due back to the office by Friday, March 1. Be on the lookout for more information during morning announcements and on our website: https://www.ahschools.us/domain/2436
The other is AVID or Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is an elective tutorial course taken during the school day that helps students gain study skills to help navigate college prepatory course work. Selected students received invitation and will be attending an informational meeting this Wednesday during connections. If you have questions about our AVID program, contact Victoria Martin at our Fred Moore Campus @ 763-506-5079 or use this link: https://www.ahschools.us/domain/12566
Next, our last school dance of the year for all AMSA student will take place in the evening of March 28 on the Fred Moore Campus at 6:30 pm. It will be organized through our Community Schools program again, sponsored by AMSA student council and sign-ups and payment will take place on-line in March. We will once again need parent volunteers that evening. Save the date and I will send out information when we have more details.
A final reminder that Trimester 2 ends on March 8. Please check your student’s grades in AHconnect so that there are no surprises when we send report cards home after Spring Break.
Continue to work hard, make great choices and most importantly be kind.
Sincerely,
Thomas R Hagerty, Principal
