This week our school offered a "Town Hall" meeting, which was an opportunity for parents and family members to hear from the school about safety, and for students and families to share their concerns, hopes, and dreams for their students at school. I want to give a shout out to our three students who participated in the panel discussion. Thank you to David Dorsey, Makayla Jones, and Bridget Proctor!

This week our school will participate in The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. If you have a child who is nervous about our drills, it may be helpful to talk with them about this in advance. This is a good time to talk with your family about your emergency plans, as well.

This year's International ShakeOut Day is October 20, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home! At 10:20 am on 10/20, join millions of people across Washington practicing earthquake safety. This is a great learning experience for everyone to be prepared for a possible earthquake in the future.

Multicultural Family Night

Save the Date!

Come join us for Midland’s Multicultural Night. Help us celebrate diversity and different cultures as we explore and learn together.

When: Thursday, November 17

Time: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

We will have performances, crafts, and samples of food from around the globe.

Please let us know if you would like to provide a food item for or perform during the cultural night. Food items should be a sample from your culture and enough to give 15 to 20 people a taste.

Hello Parents,

Your child recently brought home a Parent Information Envelope letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.

The SchoolStore fundraiser is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.

Here is all you need to do to participate:

1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000371254 to sign up.

2. Send form emails inviting family, friends, and co-workers to support your child.

3. Return the Envelope with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.

Be sure to ask your child for the Parent Envelope tonight. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!

Family Conflict Resolution

Conflict among family members can be different than with our peers. Sometimes, with our peers, we can choose to walk away and stay away from harmful, hurtful, or unproductive friendships. However, with family, those things are often not an option that we want. 😉 Students at all grades learned about the following steps for resolving family conflict:

1. Stop—Take a Break—Calm Down This helps to assure that we don’t do or say things we regret.

1. Talk It Out and Listen Up This assures that everyone feels heard and you can work together to come

up with solutions and compromise if needed.

1. Apologize or Make Amends These words and actions attempt to fix the wrong or make it up to the

person that you are saying you’re sorry to.

Students participated in various levels of discussion and written work to process thier learning; depending on their grade level. ALL Mustangs learned about resolving conflicts, problem solving and maintaining positive and caring relationships with their families. 💞

Our bus drivers safely and faithfully transport hundreds of students to and from school each day. Imagine supervising over 50 students while driving a school bus! Please take a moment to let your child’s bus driver know how much you appreciate them for transporting our kids safely!

We also would like to thank the wonderful staff in FP’s Transportation Department who make sure students get to and from school in a safe and timely manner, and deal with any emergency with grace! Thank you!
