Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!
THANK YOU for your service!
November 13 is World Kindness Day
Belmont Bulldogs will all have the opportunity to participate in a World Kindness Day activity in their classrooms on Monday, November 13. In conjunction with Operation Uplift, we will be making cards for military personnel for the holidays, as well as supporting a Chapstick drive that week.
Operation Uplift is a local non-profit organization that collects supplies for care packages and then helps distribute them to deployed troops around the world. Our cards and Chapsticks will be included in the care packages being sent out right after Thanksgiving.
Please send in Chapstick from November 13-17. No specifics to the size, brand, or flavor. Just a kind soldiers around the world might look forward to receiving. Our school goal is 500 tubes of Chapstick!! Help us make someone else's day brighter!
We would LOVE for all students and staff to wear YELLOW on World Kindness Day to help spread a little sunshine around!
While our focus at Belmont is to BE kind people, we recognize BEing kind includes deliberate acts of kindness! Thanks for helping us deliberately spread kindness!
Hold in Place...What was THAT All About?
This is a new system that we have that allows us to send a timely message to everyone all at once that something is happening that would be best resolved with a little bit of space and time. This could be a medical need, or a behavioral learning need, or something similar. This message does NOT mean that there is danger in the building. It means that someone is having a tough time and they need a little bit of space and time to feel better. That is literally what I tell any child who asks and their responses are always, "oh, I'm glad they feel better now!" Our kids are literally the best.
We have, with our new crisis badge system, the opportunity to more efficiently communicate in the building, as well as with district staff, whenever someone needs assistance. This has been fabulous! Funny story, a teammate and I showed other parents at the last PTO meeting how the badge system works and the district safety officer, Mrs. Schreiber and our Counselor all checked in immediately to make sure that everyone was okay! How great is that?
I'm so thankful to work in a school district that takes school safety seriously and works to provide supports that we need to keep everyone safe in our school community.
