Celebrating Gifted
March 2023
Greetings, GT Families!
Spring is also an exciting time in the GT world. Campus spring showcases are popping up, GT summer camp is accepting registrations for the Patterson location, and the GT Academy and GT Mentorship Program are ushering in the next classes for 2023-2024! TAGT has opened its annual scholarship application window, and our GT PAC has shared an awesome resource for parents and students to explore this month.
Have a great time as you hop into spring, and we will see you at the car wash!
Sincerely,
FBISD GT Department

Family Series
The “Spring Things Challenge” encourages gifted students to use their creativity and critical thinking skills to develop a product based on a topic of interest. This challenge includes constructing a paper roller coaster, designing a $5000 vacation plan, or building a model shelter that will ensure safety for families during extreme weather conditions. Registration dates are March 1 – 8, 2023, and video submissions are due by March 30, 2023 for upload onto the GT YouTube Channel. Please use the buttons below for registration and link to the Family Series webpage.

Save the Date! We are excited to host the first “Game Day” event for families of gifted students on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 2:15 PM – 4:15 PM. GT students are invited to connect and engage with their like-minded peers by playing a variety of board games. Families are asked to bring one board game of choice to ensure there are a variety of games. This event will take place at the First Colony Library (2121 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, TX, 77479). All interest families must register for this event!
Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP) in FBISD
All schools will hold their GT Showcases on campus during the month of March. Students will wrap up their projects and create presentations to communicate their learning through a final presentation. Check your home campus webpage for their scheduled date!
GT Learning Plans
GT students reviewed their progress and made adjustments as needed in February and now are in the final stage of completing the academic and social goals identified in the fall. Parents may support the GT Learning Plan final stage by providing encouragement where it is needed, gently suggesting ways to get back on track, or asking what support your child needs to accomplish his/her goals by May 2023.
