Miyuki Kobayashi
Co-chairperson of "Bridge", connecting Japan and overseas through women's soccer
Director of NPO JWS (Japanese Association of Women in Sports).
Miyuki founded a women's soccer team in her senior year at university. The coach of the men's soccer team accused her that "soccer is not for women. In the U.S., where she studied abroad, soccer is a "women's sport. There are women's soccer teams at universities and high schools,
She saw the potential of women's soccer. After returning to Japan, she started a university federation, Bridge, which provides support for study abroad programs through soccer,
She has started a number of local club teams and mothers' teams. Her goal is to create an environment where girls can easily play soccer.
As a board member of WE (Women Empowerment) League, Japan's first professional women's soccer league, which started in 2021,she is working hard every day to change Japan's gender gap index of 120th through women's soccer.
About WE League
Following from the success of the 2011 FIFA Women's World CupTM, the WE LEAGUE intends to pave paths for young girls who aspire to become professional football players, and contribute to the growth of women’s football in Japan.
