WE
MISS
YOU
Principal's Message
For those who celebrate the Easter or Passover Holiday, we hope that you had a wonderful time celebrating with your family. We also hope that you had a relaxing Spring Break and are ready for our remote learning, which officially starts tomorrow. Please remember you can utilize our website at patrickhenryes.cps.edu for more information and weekly plans, which can be found on the "Students" tab at the top menu of the website.
As we embark on this new journey, I want to remind everyone that we are all building our understanding on how to teach and learn remotely together. Many of us are at different comfort levels and have many different situations at home. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns as we support each other. We do have non-digital plans at the school which can be picked up between 9:00 am - 1:00 pm during our food distribution hours. Please be aware that our office hours for phone calls will only be available from 9:00 am -11:00 am. Outside of these hours, please feel free to email us using the contact button above in our newsletter.
-Stay Well

Remote Learning Tips for Families
Please consider the following remote learning tips:
- Create a daily routine so your child always knows and expects when it will be time to focus on learning.
- Help your child set goals for learning and growing every day by asking questions:
- What do you plan to work on today?
- What will you do if you get stuck?
- How can I support you?
- Determine when your child is best able to focus, such as first thing in the morning or in the afternoon, and structure remote learning around those times.
- Ensure your child is receiving plenty of sleep and is well-rested when they begin their learning.
- Monitor your child when they are working online to ensure they are actively engaged and learning.
- Provide your child with frequent encouragement and reminders as needed.
- Find the best workspace for your child, such as sitting in their favorite spot on the couch or standing at the kitchen table.
- Allow your child to take breaks every 30–60 minutes, or whenever they need one.
- Once your child is done working for the day, ask them to reflect with the following questions:
- What did you learn today?
- What did you accomplish today?
- What did you find challenging today?
- Be patient and flexible with yourself and your child. Focus on ensuring that your child is growing, learning, and feels connected to their school community.

Get Internet access
Your student may need Internet access to participate in remote learning classroom activities. For help on choosing an Internet service provider or using your mobile device as a hotspot, read Getting Connected to the Internet.
Know how to use your device
Students can use any personal device that can connect to the Internet to access CPS remote learning materials and participate in classroom activities. Chrome and Safari web browsers are recommended for accessing CPS web resources.
For students who have received a CPS-issued device, please refer to the following guidance to get started:
Access your CPS account
Students should log in to their CPS account at cps.edu/portal to access their CPS email or Google Classroom to receive classroom instructions from their teacher.
All students are issued a CPS account upon enrollment, however, students who have never logged in to their account will need to activate the account before they can access their email and other CPS applications. Students can set up this account on their own or ask their parent or guardian for help.
- Log in to your student’s CPS account at cps.edu/portal.
- If your student has never logged into their CPS account, they will need to activate their account. Use the login instructions to set up your account:
- If your student has forgotten their password or needs to change their password, use the instructions for password management:
- If you are unable to set up your student’s CPS account or change their password, please contact your school.
Familiarize yourself with Google communication tools
Teachers will let you know which tools they will be using for classroom activities. These are some of the ways in which teachers may communicate with students:
- Google Chat to send direct messages or have a group conversation
- Google Meet to participate in online class meetings hosted by your teacher
- Google Live Stream to watch videos with your class in real time
- Google Classroom to get assignment instructions, submit work to your teacher, and participate in online class discussions
Review CPS’ Acceptable Use Policy
The policy provides guidelines and standards of behavior for the use of the CPS network, devices, digital platforms, and communications and interactions among CPS staff and students.
