Parking Issues and Solutions Procedures
We wanted to update parents and families about our attempts to improve our parking lot concerns, and things being done to provide an efficient and safe drop off and pick up procedures at SMS. Thank you for your patience as we continue to find the best and safest solutions:
- Dr. Ryba, SMS Administration and Strongsville Police Department (SPD) have collaborated to review our parking procedures, and make small attempts with remapping and communicating, to solve minor issues during drop off and pick up, as we work through long term solutions.
- SMS Administration met with SPD to review possible plans for traffic- since then SPD flew a drone over SMS during pick up and drop off to get an aerial view of our traffic issues
- SMS Administration plans to meet with Strongsville community members and engineers this week to discuss alternatives for traffic and parking lot strategies on 3/9
- SMS Administration has also met with SCS maintenance to review alternative options on property for next year, for busses, staff and car riders.
- SMS Administration is looking at duty schedules for staff to assist with morning supervision and traffic control in the mornings.
Reminders: If we all work together, this process can work- please do your part and attempt to follow the following procedures.
- No parking prior to 7:40 along the curb lane- please park in a parking spot in the main lot
- Pull as far up as possible along the curb until the stop sign when actively dropping off your student
- Park in the parking lot prior to 7:40 rather than parking and waiting along the curb
- Encourage your student to use the crosswalk and both Door S and the Main doors

College Credit Plus Information
Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program allows qualified students in grades 7-12 to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities for free. College admission requirements apply to all students participating in the CCP program (based on college readiness in one or more subject areas).
Below is a link to the recording of this year's College Credit Plus Meeting. The video provides a lot of important information for students and parents who may be interested in having their child participate in the CCP program for Summer 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023. (The slides from the meeting and the Intent to Participate Form are also linked below.) The Intent to Participate Form is due no later than April 1st, 2022 for students who plan to participate in CCP for Summer 2022, Fall 2022,and/or Spring 2023. If you have additional questions after watching the video, please contact your child's school counselor.
