Happy New Year (almost)
We closed out 2021 this week with a crazy rain storm, another successful Fire Safety Drill, staff Professional Development, interviews, and of course, PJ Day! 2022 is going to be an incredible year. Two new teachers will be joining the team, we're launching a before/after school tutoring program to accelerate student literacy, forming a partnership with a local Navy squadron, USD Women's basketball, designing a mural, and MORE!
On behalf of all of us at Fletcher Elementary School, we wish you and your students a restful Winter Break and a happy New Year! We're hitting the ground running on Monday, January 3rd.
“One resolution I have made,
and try always to keep,
is this:
To rise above the little things."

Congratulations Mrs. Logan!
Mrs. Logan's favorite part about being a teacher is seeing the "light come on" for her students and guiding them to take their learning to the next level. She loves building trusting relationships with students by learning about their dreams and ambitions, and challenging them to form unique opinions about issues facing our world.
We wish her all the best in retirement and thank her for a distinguished career in Education, serving our school community.
At-Home Testing Kits for All Students
Vaccination Clinic Hosted at Fletcher in January
We are incredibly excited to announce our school's partnership with Champions of Health, a local non-profit organization, to host a COVID and Flu Vaccine clinic at Fletcher Elementary on January 4th and 25th from 2-6PM. This is a FREE walk-in clinic, where students and adults will have access to COVID & Flu vaccines from Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna in adult, pediatric, and booster doses.
If you take your student to receive their first dose of the COVID vaccine next week (December 13th-17th) they will be able to receive their second dose at Fletcher on January 4th. Please check with your student's pediatrician first before making any plans to follow this timeline.
SDUSD Nursing & Wellness has updated their guidance for fully immunized students that will allow them to remain in school if they are a close contact. Additionally, if they do show symptoms, a single negative test result would allow them to return to school immediately.
COVID vaccines have received FDA Emergency Use Authorization for all children aged five and older. At this point, only students age 16 and up are required to be fully vaccinated prior to January 24th. For more information about the location of other vaccine clinics and the mandate for older students, please visit: https://sites.google.com/sandi.net/nursingwellness/covid-19-vaccine.
Welcome Mr. Lindstrom and Ms. Massion
Mr. Joseph Lindstrom will be our new PE Teacher. Mr. Lindstrom's previous experience is working with students who have special physical and/or emotional needs. In addition to his PE credential, he also holds an Adaptive PE credential which means he is able to work with students who have extra mobility needs. Prior to being a teacher, Mr. Lindstrom was also an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) tech who worked with students on the autism spectrum. As the fourth of ten kids growing up in Apple Valley, CA, Mr. Lindstrom learned how to share at an early age and grew to become an All-American track and field athlete in the 3000m and Steeple Chase events. That expertise came in handy as a Cross Country and Track coach at Great Oak High School in Temecula. Welcome Mr. Lindstrom!
Ms. Nina Massion will be our new 2nd grade teacher. Ms. Massion's previous experience started as a Literacy Tutor at the Illinois Youth Center working with out-of-school youth to increase their math and literacy skills. From there, she became a Title I intervention teacher at Richmond Intermediate School in St. Charles, Illinois, and then a 4th & 5th grade elementary teacher in Elgin, Illinois. This year, she started out as a 3rd grade teacher in Chula Vista, but was drawn to the #SmallSchoolBigFamily vibe here at Fletcher and couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the team. Ms. Massion and her dog, Laker, are avid runners, and Ms. Massion recently completed her first solo marathon! Her passion is helping students grow and preparing them for a future of success. Welcome Ms. Massion!
