I hope this letter finds everyone in good health and spirits. December is a short school month, but no doubt one of the busiest months of the year for families with the Holiday season fast approaching. Take the time to enjoy the chaos the season brings and cherish the moments with family. LMS students continue to show growth and maturity in the classrooms and hallways every week, but as as we near the end 2023 its an easy time to lose focus. Please continue to reinforce the importance of finishing strong before the holiday break.

December 15 - LMS NAEP opt out deadline

December 19 - LMS/LHS Choir Concert in the LMS Cafeteria at 7pm

December 22-Jan 2 - No School - Winter Break

NWEA - Winter Assessment

NAEP

Linden Middle School was selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). The National Center for Educational Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education, selects schools for NAEP and is responsible for providing staff to administer NAEP at Linden Middle School. LMS 8th grade students were randomly selected by NAEP and will respond to questions pertaining to 8th grade level Science. The administration of the test is set for January, 30th.

Selected students and parents were sent letters pertaining to the assessment and opt out options on December 6th. Parents wishing to opt their student out of the assessment need to do so, in writing, by Friday, December 15.

Also, a quick update on the Zero-Referral Club. The students did a great job and had a blast going over to the Multi-Purpose Building celebrating their accomplishment of not receiving any referrals in the first 3+ months of school. It was great to be able to celebrate the students who consistently make good decisions and are leaders in our building. Please praise your students at home for their good behavior. We are looking forward to planning other fun activities for the students who make good decisions daily.

I truly hope you have a great Holiday Season, I cannot believe it is almost here. You all have amazing children and have done a great job raising them into the individuals that they are today. Continue supporting them at home and we will do our job here. Happy Holidays!
