School Pictures for the ELC are on Wednesday, October 26th. Order forms went home from Smile Pro. If you would like to order a package of photos you can either send the envelope in or pay online using the information provided on the envelope.

Ms. Elicia: I have been a Physical Therapist for 22 years and have worked in the APS for 16 years. I am married, have three children and a dog! I love spending time outside hiking, taking walks and riding my bike with my family. I love working with preschool children as every moment and activity are so fun and exciting to them. Everyday is a new experience and it is a joy to be apart of their curiosity, wonder and excitement!

Miss Zuleica: I am 21 years old, and I have been a Physical Therapy Assistant for one year this October! I've always dreamed of helping people - who could be better than these little cuties! I absolutely adore working with children and helping them reach their physical potential! Nothing beats all the Pre-K smiling faces! I am so grateful for this opportunity to do something I love!

It is that time of year where it is 38 degrees in the morning then gets up to the high 60's in the afternoon. Our recess times are throughout the day so please make sure you bring layers for your child. Our playground is in the shade for part of the day so it is not as warm as one thinks. Coats are needed at this point. Staff will make sure that the coats go home every day.

Letters have already been going home to those who meet the criteria.

Research has shown that preK attendees had stronger literacy skills once they reached the first grade ( Haslip, 2018).

The annual Harvest night will be occurring on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6pm-8pm in the school cafeteria. A form for the presale of tickets for the raffle went home this week.

Big thank you to those who have donated! We have bought items for the baskets (i.e. hooded towels, pajamas, blankets, bubble baths, games, and stuffed animals) with the monetary donations.

As with any new technology there is always something that does not go as planned. The ELC has been working closely with the Apptegy team to make sure our messages and notifications go through. We learned this week that when we push a notification through for the live feed that the actual live feed does not show up. You will get the notification but then have to click the live feed in the menu to see what was posted. We did learn this week that our notifications are finally going through! Any concerns or issues please let us know so we can let the Apptegy team know.

The DDS Autism Division runs a program for low-income children with autism called the Children's Autism Services Waiver Program. This program serves children under the age of 10 who meet both the clinical and financial eligibility that includes having/obtaining MassHealth Standard Insurance. The Autism Services Waiver Program allows children to receive Expanded Habilitation, Education, in-home services and supports, such as Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Floor Time, for a total of up to 3 years. At the conclusion of the three years of the intensive in-home services, a child may access ongoing Supplemental Services (for example respite and goods and services, etc.) that meet the child’s needs until the child’s 10th birthday. Currently, the program serves approximately 400 children a year. While the program is near capacity, we are expanding the number of participants and there is a high rate of turnover in the program every year, so we looking to have a new pool of applicants to draw from to fill open slots.

The Autism Division is accepting new application requests for families interested in this program between the dates of October 14, 2022 and October 31, 2022. Applications must be postmarked or emailed from a parent/guardian no later than October 30, 2022.
