In-Person students in grades K-4 will leave their Chromebooks at school at the end of the year. After June 4th, Chromebook returns can be scheduled through the district Help Desk (314-415-8181, option 1).
Virtual & In-Person Students: Grade 5
Students in 5th grade will take their Chromebook home with them this summer and bring it with them to their new middle school in the fall.

Thank you and have a wonderful summer break!
Character Education Survey - Carman Parents, We Need Your Feedback
Next year, Carman Trails will be working to recertify our School of Character designation. Our character education, built on our 5 core values, drives how we teach character, inspire leadership, and incorporate character into building a caring school community. Please take a moment to share your thoughts and opinions which will help guide our work in the coming school year.
The link to the Google Form can be found here. Thank you for your assistance!

Our Lost & Found is Full!
Items left in the Lost and Found after June 3rd will be donated. Thank you for your help!
We need bus drivers for Carman Trails!
Right now, we are short 1-2 bus drivers every day for Carman Trails. We need your help! Do you know someone who would be interested in driving our students to and from school?
Across the country, and in Parkway, we currently have a bus driver shortage. We are at a critical point now where we need to hire more bus drivers for every school or it could impact our ability to drive students to school right now and also for the next school year.
Our students love our bus drivers and it’s a great job. Here’s why:
No experience is necessary and we will pay you to learn how to drive a bus.
Parkway bus drivers receive paid health insurance benefits, paid holidays, guaranteed hours and summers off. Starting pay is $16 per hour.
It’s a great job if you are retired and a great job if you like kids.
Can you help? If you know someone who is interested, they can call 314-415-8401 for more information or here is the link to apply:

10,000 Pencils Service Learning Experience
Dear Carman Families:
We are pleased to be hosting a Day of Service at Carman Trails. In our renewal phase for School of Character, we received feedback wondering if a day of service could be a possibility at Carman. Last year, we offered the opportunity for families to donate any new or used school supplies on the last day of school to 10,000 Pencils, a local non-profit organization that helps communities who would normally not have school supplies. This year, we are able to make the experience more meaningful for our students and the recipients.
We began collecting supplies last week and will continue to collect them through May 30th. On June 1st, our in-person students will sort, bag, and box the supplies for pick up. Our Fifth Grade students will help lead this project. The easiest way for in-person students to participate is to donate their end-of-year school supplies. We hope you will consider allowing your child to donate their supplies.
Here is a little information about 10,000 Pencils. In addition, you can watch this short video clip about the great work that has happened due to the generosity of students in our surrounding communities.
Here are the documents that will be sent to families to explain how to get involved. Attached you will find a flyer and permission slip for families to access.
We are excited to be able to host this Service Learning Experience -- our Carman Trails families are always so very generous!
Thank you for your help and support,
Allison Love
A BIG CARMAN TRAILS WELCOME TO OUR NEW 2021-2022 STAFF MEMBERS!
Welcome to Mrs. Robyn Bricker!
Hello! My name is Robyn Bricker and I am so excited to join the Carman Trails Community as a Math Support Specialist. I have heard the most amazing things about the Cougars and am eager to join this amazing team!
I have been teaching for a total of 16 years, all within the Parkway School District. I started out my first year at McKelvey Elementary, teaching morning and afternoon Kindergarten. Since then, I have spent the last 15 years teaching a combination of first and third grade at Claymont Elementary.
I am a Parkway girl all the way. I attended and graduated from Parkway schools myself, and now have a son who is a third grader in the district. My husband, son, dog and I are a busy family who loves to spend time together watching movies, taking walks, playing baseball in the backyard, vacationing at the beach, reading, and much, much more.
I am very passionate about math and decided to follow my heart, which has led me to transition into this new role. I absolutely love teaching young minds how to believe in themselves and how to be a mathematical thinker. I look forward to working with the wonderful staff, students, and families of the Carman Trails community!
WELCOME TO MRS. CHARLOTTE LIESMAN!
My name is Charlotte Liesman. I am a mother of two daughters ages 17 and 8 and have been working in the ABA field for 12 years. I recently moved back from the Cayman Islands where I helped open an autism clinic. I started as a second-grade teacher and have helped create curriculum for adults transitioning from high school to employment. I've worked with children as young as 18 months all the way to 45 years old focusing on teaching replacement behaviors and helping them be successful in life. I have provided over 100 hours of free community parent trainings over the years and continue to focus on helping families learn more to help their children. My husband and I recently purchased a home in Ballwin so I will be close by and look forward to building relationships within the school community.
Feel free to reach out if you need anything else at all. My number is 636-266-8083.

Welcome to Ms. Michelle Gysbers!
I've worked for SSD as a Para for 5 years. I volunteer at Hope Ranch in Freeburg, IL, which has equine assisted therapy for special needs children. In my free time, I love to hike and paint. I have one niece who I adore. I'm excited to be at Carman Trails!
WELCOME BACK, MR. TOBY FALES!
We are excited to welcome Mr. Toby Fales, Math Support Specialist back to Carman Trails in the 2021-2022 school year! Mr. Fales was a member of the Carman Trails staff several years ago and we're very happy to have him back with us.

ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLAND AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
May marks the celebration of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month which will be celebrated in various ways throughout the month of May 2021. Like most commemorative months, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month originated with Congress in 1977 to celebrate this great group of Americans who have contributed so much to the United States. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first people of Japanese descent to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. However, we must not forget that the majority of the workers who laid the tracks for the railroad were Chinese immigrants.
Please remember to help celebrate these wonderful cultures by recognizing the history, culture and achievements of all Asian Americans in the United States. You can also watch some of the documentaries that will be showing throughout the month on various television and cable stations.
Become curious about the cultures and the history as you greet students, parents and staff who identify as Asian Pacific Islander South Asian Americans (APISAA)
Free Eye Exams with Eye Thrive in June and July!
Eye Thrive's Mobile Vision Clinic visits to various St. Louis County Library branches this summer in June and July. Like last year, these visits will operate on a first come first served basis, with same-day eye exam appointments being scheduled for children in the order that they arrive on-site, until our daily exam capacity is full. Any child age 4-18 is eligible for a free eye exam and glasses at these visits. Parents/guardians do not need to do anything ahead of time.
