Lemira Elementary School Updates:
Welcome to a new week! Thanks for being a part of our village as we continue to motivate, inspire, and educate all students to be college and career ready. We are the Lions, and we'll have it no other way!!!!!!
School Announcements
1. Student Council Induction Ceremony
- Congratulations to our students who were nominated into Student Council.
- We will host an induction ceremony for officers and members on Monday, September 25th @ 5:30pm.
- Parents and guest are encouraged to attend.
- The event will be hosted at Lemira (Cafeteria)
2. Title One Parent University: Sept. 28th
- Come join us for our annual "Parent University".
- Important topics will be discussed to ensure your scholar and yourself will have a productive and successful school year!
- This event will be Thursday, Sept. 28th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.
Third Grade Read to Succeed:
- More information will be shared about the Read to Succeed (R2S) Retention during our Parent University on 9/28.
3. PBIS "Spirit Week"
- For our upcoming September PBIS celebration, we will kick off with "Spirit Week".
- Please see the flyer attached, which gives details for our "Spirit Attire" for the week.
4. Title One Math at McDonald's Night
- We will host our Title One "Math at McDonald's Night" Tuesday, October 17th.
- Please see flyer for details.
- To allow for the adequate amount of math kits, we do ask that you RSVP.
- Flyers will go home Monday with RSVP details,
- We hope to see you there!
5. March of Dimes Walk
- The district's "March of Dimes" walk will be hosted Saturday, September 30th.
- The March for Babies walk will take place at Dillion Park.
- Please join the Lions as we walk for a worthy cause.
6. Exact Path (Homework Extension)
- Parents, please encourage students to continue to log into Exact Path, even while at home to build their skills in the areas of Reading and Math.
- Each day, all of our students participate in an enrichment block, in which they spend 30 minutes working on skills catered to their independent level in Exact Path.
7. Blue Communication Homework Folders:
- Each student has or will recieve a "Blue Communication" folder on their first day of entrance.
- Please ask your scholar for the folder. Important paperwork is included, which will require your signatures.
- Please check this folder daily for any upcoming events or important news.
- Your scholar's classroom "Week at a Glance" will also be included, which contains homework, upcoming test, etc."
8. Parent Portal and Power-School
- Please make sure your information has been updated in Power-school.
- We want to ensure we have accurate numbers on file in case of emergencies.
- Also, please ensure you have access to Parent Portal so you are able to view grades live.
9. Spirit Fridays:
* Please mark on your calendars the following Days
- 2nd Fridays (Spirit Fridays) - Lemira T-shirts or "Blue and White" colors
- 4th Fridays (Creating College and Career Ready Leaders, the AVID Way) - Wear your favorite college T-shirt

Educational research makes it clear. All parents can help their children achieve more in school.
- To help your child do well in school, let your child know you expect them to achieve.
- Set high, but realistic goals.
- Establish a daily routine for family meals, homework and chores.
- Stress that school success comes with hard work.
- Monitor your child after school activities.
- Be firm and set clear rules and consequences for breaking them.
- Keep in contact with your child’s teachers.
- Respect your child’s ideas by taking time to listen and sharing your values with your child.

Parent Tips:
9/25 is National Comic Book Day and National Math Storytelling Day.
Pick up a comic book or have students create their own. Create math collages or develop math puzzles that tell a story to promote learning.
