Brightwood Tiger Weekly News
2001 Brightwood School Rd Greensboro, NC 27405
Week of May 22 - May 26
Good Evening Brightwood Tigers. This is Principal Stokes. Welcome to another great Game Changing Week! Please remember we welcome our Tigers into the building beginning at 7:05 am and the tardy bell rings at 7:25 am.
Field Trip: 1st Grade to Greensboro Science Center on Monday May 22. Our PreK will have their Promotion Ceremony on Thursday May 25. We ask that families bring no more than two – three guest per child.
Friday May 26, we start our End of Year EOG. All students will take their Reading/ELA EOG
We are in the last couple of weeks and days of the 22-23 school year. Every day counts and every day is filled with meaningful instruction. Please continue to support us in reminding your child of our school expectations and your parental expectations. We have made too much progress to turn around now.
Spring has sprung and we need for everyone to be mindful of the school attire. Students are not allowed to wear slides, bubble shoes, bedroom slippers and crocs must be in sports mode. We have had children to get hurt due to not wearing the proper footwear. We ask that students be mindful of their clothing and not wear attire that is too revealing. The end of student’ shorts, skirts and/or dresses should reach their fingertips when their shoulders are relaxed. If your child wear ripped jeans, they will need wear clothing under the rips if the rips cover the entire leg and thigh area. If your child comes to school and is not appropriately dressed, we will call you to bring them proper clothing/footwear or they will have to wear a clothing item out of our closet.
Attendance does matter, missing two days of school a month may not seem like much, but it can add up to a child being considered chronically absent. Frequent absences can have a negative impact on your child’s success in school
All students are expected to wear their One Card to school daily. A new One Card cost five dollars each time it is lost, and a lanyard is three dollars.
Parents please remember our safety protocols include that parents are not allowed to enter the building during our morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. Please remember safety first, we have had several complaints about speeding in the parking lot that has almost resulted in a child being hit. Please be sure to follow all travel expectations. Please do not pull into the bus arrival area unless your child is being served in one of the adaptive classes. I have requested the presence of a police officer to help reinforce our expectations.
School dismissal will begin at 2:13, instruction ends at 2:10 pm. Please remember that you must have your government issued photo ID with you each time you need to pick your child up early for appointment and emergencies which must be before 1:45 pm. We ask that you limit picking your child up early because they are missing valuable instructional time when they are being picked up early multiple times. This is time we cannot get back.
We thank you so much for all that you do! Remember it is always a Great Day to Be a Brightwood Tiger! Have a wonderful evening remember to be amazing, because you are Amazing.
Love Always your Proud Principal,
Ms. LaTrice Stokes
