National Decision Day
Monday May 1st, was a very exciting day for LOHS seniors. Our seniors, as well as seniors from across the country celebrated in National Decision Day. What was once a day for students to officially commit to their college or university, has now expanded to include all decisions, including the workforce, military, and trade schools.
During all lunches, outside of the Career Center, seniors were encouraged to make their decision "social media official". A photobooth was set up for them to show off their decision and students were entered into drawings for college swag.
Feel free to browse our our LOCS Flickr account as we continue to the celebrate our seniors during the month of May and June!

Class of 2024 M-Step Schedule - Last Week!
The Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress, or M-STEP, is a 21st Century computer-based assessment designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards. These standards, developed for educators by educators, broadly outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be prepared to enter the workplace, career education training, and college. M-STEP results, when combined with classroom work, report cards, local district assessments, and other tools offer a comprehensive view of student progress and achievement.
Your 11th-grade student will be taking the M-STEP within the next three weeks during 1st and 2nd hour. The Date and Room where your child(ren) will be tested are listed in the graphic below. Your child also received a Microsoft Teams Message indicating their date of testing and location. You must bring your school-issued device to your testing location. This test takes approximately 2 hours but is untimed and student-paced.

School Dismissal Manager
We have started utilizing School Dismissal Manager (SDM), a program for parents to communicate early student departures. LOHS successfully used the SDM program last year. It is accessible on either computer or smartphone, allowing parents the opportunity to officially submit an early dismissal request without calling the school.
On approximately September 22, you should have received a communication from School Dismissal Manager with additional details. Parents are encouraged to check their designated email accounts. Also, be advised the message might be redirected to your “junk” folders. The welcome email from SDM provides all relevant information necessary to activate and begin using your account.
