Jan 22nd through January 26th is Celebrate Literacy Week. This year’s theme is, “Believe in your “Shelf”- Building Resiliency Through Reading”. In the last month, our students have read 21,662 minutes. Our 6th graders are currently in the lead for the most logged minutes on the Beanstack App which can be found on their student dashboard. Beginning Monday, January 22, school counselors will present Lessons 1 and 2 of the Safer, Smarter Teens curriculum as mandated by the Florida Department of Education. Students will view grade level presentations, as outlined below, through their ELA classes. The attached document contains an overview of the curriculum as well as a form for parents/guardians to sign and return to your students ELA teacher if you choose for your student to opt out of the lessons.

All Incoming 9th grade students & current CCHS Students interested in taking an Advanced Placement or Dual Enrollment course are invited to attend our AP/DE Night on Tuesday, February 6th from 6:00-7:00pm. Learn about courses offered at CCHS and PHSC, exam information, benefits, AP Capstone Diploma Program, and answer any questions you may have. • February 26th – March 1st - Online Course Registration via English Classes. Our HS Counselor will be coming over to CCMS to partner with CCMS Counselors to register students online for the 24-25 school year.
• Any students who do not currently attend CCMS will need to reach out directly to Robin Ringer, our school Registrar, to officially register at CCHS for the 24-25 school year. After registering, parents and students will meet with a School Counselor to select courses.
• March 8th - All applications and AP Expectation forms due.

Students/Parents/Guardians should look at the Course Planning Sheet to begin thinking about courses they would like to take or would like their child to take during the 2024-2025 school year. In lieu of a traditional "Curriculum Night," we have hyperlinked a commercial video to each course name so you can learn about each course of interest to you! Simply click on the name of the course of interest & watch the short commercial! After watching the commercial, If you have any questions about a specific course, simply CLICK HERE to see direct email addresses for our Department & Program contacts. These teachers can answer any questions you have via email!

As you know, our school and district are committed to fostering the highest-quality learning experience for its students.

To support these goals, we will be encouraging students in grades 5 through 8, to participate in a brief survey sometime between January 22nd through February 14th. Survey questions will address students’ views on their coursework, their school experience, and the ways in which our school supports their educational goals. Results will only be used to inform and improve academic supports and advanced/accelerated coursework placement for students. This will also help middle and high schools develop support and determine course placement for incoming 6th and 9th grade students for the 24-25 school year.

We foresee only positive benefits for your student(s) and are excited to gather data that will enable us to better prepare all students to succeed. It is the right of the parent and/or guardian to request to exempt their student from the Student Coursework Interest Survey. At the beginning of the school year, parents provided their selection for surveys on the consent form located in the myStudent Parent Portal. Please review your selection and ensure it is correct, if it is incorrect, please make the changes necessary in the myStudent Parent Portal, at least three days prior to the beginning of the survey and alert your administration to the change.

Our Semester 1 Howlabration (Honor Roll Ceremony) will be held on the afternoon of February 2. Students who qualified received an invitation today.

Our current 6th and 7th grade students will receive their course cards for the 2024 - 2025 course selection on February 6th during the school day. That evening, we are opening our campus to welcome our current 6th and 7th grade students and parents to come and learn more about the possible course offerings next school year prior to filling in their course cards. 6th and 7th Grade students will submit their course cards in their ELA classes the week of February 12 - 16th with their grade-level counselor.

Since 1972, the Knights of Columbus have sponsored a Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9 to 14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Kids compete within their own gender and age and progress from local level to district, regional and state/province competitions. All contestants are recognized for their participation, and we highly encourage your school to help promote this annual community event.

An event flyer and contestant entry form are provided below to post and share with students and parents/guardians, and we greatly appreciate your assistance in spreading the word. Good Luck to all participants!

Cypress Creek Middle School is excited to announce a new partnership with Impact Counseling! Through this collaboration, counseling and group therapy services will be offered to our Coyote students at no cost to families!

We need your help! Communication has been sent to you reminding you about the Parent’s Bill of Rights Consent Form and emergency contact card needed for every student. Within the communication, links were provided to Parent Portal information and to the Parent Bill of Rights webpage.

It is important to complete these items. Otherwise, most incomplete consents will be viewed as permission granted by the parent or guardian.
