RECOGNITIONS
Volunteer services - volunteer work hours report
The School Board commended citizens who volunteer to support the Anoka-Hennepin School District. Liz Burgard, community education parent involvement coordinator, and Marla Chesser, supervisor of parent involvement, presented a report detailing the combined effort of the district’s volunteers in the 2022-23 school year.
COMMUNICATIONS, DELEGATIONS AND PETITIONS
The School Board did not receive testimony.
ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
Verndale facility name recommendation
Becky Brodeur, associate superintendent for middle schools and student services and Greg Cole, chief operations officer, proposed a name change for the Verndale Education Center for a facility that was formerly named River Trail Learning Center at Verndale. The recommendation is reflective of the programming that happens in that facility and was approved on a unanimous vote.
LABOR RELATIONS AND BENEFITS
2023-25 child nutrition master agreement
Dr. Jennifer Cherry, executive director of human resources presented terms and conditions for district child nutrition assistants for 2023-25. The recommended contract includes an increased minimum wage of $17 per hour along with increased health insurance support and other benefits. The agreement is within the budget parameters approved by the School Board and it was approved on a unanimous vote.
2023-25 community school coordinators master agreement
Dr. Jennifer Cherry, executive director of human resources presented terms and conditions for the community school coordinators master agreement for 2023-25. The agreement is within the budget parameters approved by the School Board and it was approved on a unanimous vote.
Substitute, seasonal, and temporary worker pay rates
Dr. Jennifer Cherry, executive director of human resources and Todd Mensink, director of labor relations and benefits, reviewed the substitute, seasonal and temporary worker pay rates for the 2023-24 school year. Daily rates for substitute teachers was increased to a minimum of $200 per day, with $215 for retirees and incentive pay of $225 per day for positions at select sites (Coon Rapids Middle School, Evergreen Park Elementary School - STEM School of Innovation, and River Trail Learning Center at L.O. Jacob). Increased hourly rates for substitute employees, temporary and seasonal workers were also proposed to match pay ranges in approved contracts. The School Board approved the recommendations on a unanimous vote.
