A Look Into January
Second Semester Schedule Change Policy
Courses are a year-long commitment at Centennial High School. There are very few changes second semester. Minimal balancing will occur and it may involuntarily make adjustments to student schedules for the first five days. Please be sure to view your schedule and continue to encourage your student to watch their schedule each morning for the first five days. This cannot be avoided and if a student is moved for balancing, the original schedule cannot be recovered. Thank you ahead of time for your understanding and thank you parents for helping any disappointed Huskies understand.
Appropriate changes may include a senior who requests late start, early release, or to support school operations with school service. With availability, some students may add a credit recovery course as well.
When to see your school counselor during the first week of 2nd semester:
- There is a missing class in the schedule
- There is a wrong class in the schedule
- The teacher changed, but you have the same class and the same period
- There is a course listed TWICE on your schedule
- There is a desire to add a credit recovery course for 2nd semester
School counselors are often approached for the following considerations, which are prohibited by the school's schedule changing policy:
- Picking a different teacher for 2nd semester
- Picking a preferred lunch
- Schedule matching with friends
- Picking periods for particular classes
- Switching out of a year-long course
- Switching out of a program (See the program coordinator. Only the program coordinator or assistant principal over the program can authorize a drop from the program mid-year.)
- Direct changes in Athletics (Talk to your coach. Your coach must work with the athletics office because only the athletics office can authorize a student to be enrolled/dropped into a sports period.)
If you wish to discuss any possible changes to your schedule, then please come at lunch to see your school counselor within the first week of school. No voluntary schedule changes will be considered after January 13, 2023.
Similar to the fall, beginning Jan. 23rd - Feb. 1st, SENIORS will be meeting with their school counselors to discuss their mid-year Individual Learning Plan (ILP). School couselors will be discussing the following with each student:
- Progress on post-secondary plan
- FAFSA/Dream Act Completion
- Graduation check and review
Please be preared with any questions your may have regarding you ILP.
