Omaha North High Magnet Mission Statement
The mission of Omaha North High Magnet School is to prepare all students for success in lifelong studies and careers.
Message from Dr. Nero, Principal
Greetings Viking Family,
We are well into the 2nd Quarter of a busy school year. Students are engaged in athletics, after school clubs and various activities. Remember that we have free tutoring available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 3:15-5:00pm in the library.
On November 30th, we look forward to hosting our first “Freshman Choose Your Academy and Parent Information Night” for current 9th graders. Please see the information and registration link below.
Safety continues to be our top priority. We are fortunate to have filled an existing security guard position, something that has been a challenge during a labor shortage. We have also been granted an additional security guard position, which we hope to fill soon. Qualified candidates should refer to the OPS Careers Page if interested in applying.
While social media can sometimes be a platform for highlighting negativity, please know that most of our students are at school each day making good choices. Our staff works hard to maintain a steady presence in the halls welcoming students to school, encouraging them get to class on time and helping them make better choices.
During Viking Time, we have weekly lessons on Social Media with discussions about the lasting impact our digital footprint can have on our lives. We encourage parents/guardians to continue these conversations and share your expectations as well. We appreciate all the support we have received from parents as we hold students accountable for the choices they are making.
If you feel your student needs additional academic or emotional assistance please do not hesitate to reach out to their School Counselor, our School Social Worker, or their Administrator. We are all here to aid in each student’s success on this high school journey!
As always, we appreciate your continued support and involvement. If you have any questions, please call us 531-299-2700.
Go Vikings!

Introducing the Omaha Public Schools concierge team
Dear Omaha Public Schools Community,
As Nebraska’s largest school district, we are stronger because of our 9,000 staff members. Our team arrives each day ready to serve the students of Omaha. We can all be proud of our focus on health and safety, academics and the well-being of students and staff. Still, we know this year’s normal looks nothing like what we’ve known before.
We’ve all seen news about shortages and disruptions affecting businesses across our country. We know those impacts can be seen and felt in Omaha and in our school district. Our Operations and Human Resources teams have been relentlessly focused on planning ahead, strategically staying ahead of disruptions and creatively recruiting the best candidates to work with our young people.
We’re writing to ask for your assistance – in lending your talent to our district or encouraging someone you know to join us. We need you. If you have five, 10, 15 or 20 hours a week we want you to join our concierge team. This team is paid and stands ready to assist with numerous non-instructional responsibilities. As a team member, you have the opportunity to support many schools as needed or maintain a relationship with one school in your neighborhood. The role could include any of the following:
- Lunch Time Partner: Overseeing and providing support to students during the lunch time hour.
- Classroom Partner: Assisting the teacher with necessary tasks in the classroom.
- Bus Aide Partner: Assisting our transportation staff by supporting our students.
- School Pride Partner: Assisting the school leadership team with special projects that foster pride and student success.
If you or someone you know are interested in the opportunity to be part of this team, please see the link below.
Thank you for your support. Because of you, our district has been a local and national leader throughout these challenging times. With you, we know that will continue.
With gratitude,
Cheryl Logan, Ed.D.
