This year in our campus professional development, Mrs. Hastings asked each teacher to come up with their "one word" focus for the year. Dr. Mathews and I brainstormed and came up with a singular focus for the Strike Band program for the year and our word is PROGRESS! We feel like our band classes are making excellent PROGRESS toward our personal goals and toward becoming outstanding musicians. Our beginner classes have made so much PROGRESS every day that we are excited to see where they land when we do auditions in April for the 22-23 Symphonic and Honor Bands.

If your student is in private lessons, THANK YOU. You're key to helping with our PROGRESS.

If your student is practicing, THANK YOU! That is key to our PROGRESS!!

We understand not everyone will take lessons, BUT everyone CAN practice! The band hall is still open before and after school this semester, we just ask that students give us a heads up if they are coming. Please encourage your student to practice, no matter their skill level. EVERYONE needs to spend outside time with their instrument.

Movie night has been rescheduled for January 28, from 4:30-6:30(ish). Students will stay after school to watch the movie in the band hall and then will need to be picked up when the movie is over, around 6:30.

Popcorn and drinks will be provided!

Students will vote on the movie but it will be PG or G rated :)

This week's band member of the week is Emma Kuers! Emma is a NEW member to the Strike Honor Band as she has worked so hard to improve and earn a spot in the Honor Band. Emma is a dedicated worker in the Strike Lobo Band and the Strike Bel Canto Choir. She has even been featured as a flutist during choir programs. We are proud of Emma and her growth as a musician. Way to go, Emma!

Did you know the Strike Band Hall is open for any band student to practice? Band students are encouraged to practice daily but sometimes schedules at home will just be busy! That's why we welcome students to practice before or after school. We have the band hall open at 8:30 (when students can come in the building!) and until at least 5 pm every day. We do ask that students let us know ahead of time, if they are going to stay after school since we sometimes have responsibilities that may keep us from supervising or helping students.
