February 20, 2024 Volume 1, Number 20

Northview Familia,
We had another great week at Northview. Our girls and boys wrestling teams represented us well at the CIF-SS Wrestling Masters Meet. Four boys and six girls will represent Northview at the 2024 CIF State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield this week. Also, our boys basketball team defeated Hillcrest Christian to earn Northview High School their first ever boys basketball CIF-SS finals birth. Our baseball, softball, swim, and boys tennis teams kicked off their seasons as well.
Our amazing counselors have started offering a variety of financial aid workshops to support our students as they pursue their college aspirations. Please check out our upcoming workshops.
We finished last week with a daily average attendance of 97.3%, a 1.2% increase from the day before. Thank you for your hard work in making sure that our students are in class every day ready to learn.
Have a great week, Vikings!
Wellness Corner
Let's remember to be kind, not only to others but also to ourselves, because everyone is fighting battles we know nothing about. A little kindness can go a long way in making someone's day brighter. So, as we go about our day, and week, let's spread positivity and compassion wherever we go. Take a moment to do something kind for someone else—a smile, a compliment, or a helping hand. Together, let's create a ripple of positivity that brightens the world around us.

AVID Future Ready
To say our AVID students are college bound is an understatement. We have 90% of our students accepted into a 4-year College or University. Students are receiving multiple acceptances from numerous universities. These include the Cal States and many privates. Mariah Esparza, for example, has been accepted to Vanguard University, University of Arizona, Oregon State University, University of Oregon, University of La Verne, Whittier College, Cal Baptist University, Hope International University, Azusa Pacific University, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State LA. In AVID, we don't just strive for 100% acceptance, we strive for 100% acceptance into multiple universities. This is what our students have worked towards during their four years in AVID.
Seniors, make sure to check your personal emails daily in order to not miss important notifications from colleges. Colleges will email you portal information such as login and passwords. Oftentimes you need to login to your portals to check for your admission status.

Staff Spotlight
Mr. Jorge Villanueva has been a Viking for the last 20 years!! Mr. Villanueva is a math wiz and truly enjoys the subject! He prefers complex math, and we thank him for those skills!
When Mr. Villanueva is not challenging the math region of students' brains, he enjoys decompressing while playing Xbox. Video games are a niche that get him in the zone! Mr. Villanueva is also an avid college football fanatic, especially for USC!
