Musical This Week!
Dear Atholton Families,
I hope you had a chance to enjoy some of the beautiful spring weather over the past few days. The arrival of spring marks the beginning of our senior end-of-the-year events. While graduation dates are not yet finalized (stay tuned – very soon), we are gearing up for prom and after prom festivities that will take place on May 7.
The Class of 2022 prom will take place at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The PTSA will be hosting an After Prom Event at the Overhill Mansion in Catonsville from 11:00 pm to 3:00 am. The after-prom event is a safe way for our seniors and juniors to spend the evening without the temptation of drinking and driving. We ask that you encourage your senior to attend. In order for us to make it a “cool” event for seniors and juniors, we need your help with donations for great food and awesome prizes! Additionally, we would love to have as many volunteers as possible. Please click here for more information and how you can help!
This Wednesday, our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will take an HCPSS Student Climate Survey. This survey is to assess our school climate and culture and sense of belonging. Students will need a fully charged Chromebook for the survey which will take place during an extended 3rd period on March 23.
I am thrilled to announce that Atholton had a great showing in the PTA Reflections contest both locally and statewide. Congratulations to senior, Stephen Sullivan III, whose song entitled 'Conquest' won 2nd place for Howard County and 3rd place for the State of Maryland in Music Composition for this year's PTA Reflections contest. Nice job Stephen!
After a two-year hiatus, this week marks the return of the AHS Drama department and the spring musical – in person! This year’s production is Hairspray. There will be four performances:
Thursday, 3/24 @ 7pm
Friday, 3/25 @ 7pm
Saturday, 3/26 @ 7pm
Sunday, 3/27 @ 3pm
I hope you are able to attend at least one of the performances to support the return of our in-person productions. Mr. Rosen and the cast have been working extremely hard to bring this production to fruition.
Lastly, the HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program is sponsoring a webinar entitled, “College and Career Opportunities Webinar Series: Career Opportunities and Pathways to Success.” It will explore career pathways and discuss opportunities and resources available through Career and Technical Education. Students and families will learn about courses, internships, projects, apprenticeships for high school and beyond! The webinar will be held on March 29 from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM. Students and families can register here. BSAP College and Career Opportunities Webinar.
Have a terrific week!
Warmest regards,
Robert A. Motley
