News from our Legend Building Leadership
Greetings Dynamic Centennial Academy Families,
We have just about concluded week 3 of the 2023-2024 school year! We are continuing to build scholars’ capacity through consistent routines and procedures while layering on the consistent instruction of our GA Standards of Excellence in all content areas.
Important Testing Information:
Scholars will begin taking their MAP assessments during the week of August 21st. See the breakdown of testing subjects below:
Kindergarten-4th; 6th & 7th: ELA and math
5th & 8th: ELA, math, and science
Check out the link HERE to find out more information about this assessment.
More tidbits of Information:
If you have not completed the technology agreement form, please do so as soon as possible. Scholars will not be able to use a device or the school’s internet without this form! This form is required for all scholars.
Save the Date: Welcome Back to School Bash August 24th 5-7pm
Sign up for LiveSchool to receive the most up to date information on your scholar’s daily progress and track their points for weekly incentives and the school store. Contact your scholar’s teacher for your login information. There is a prize for the 1st class to reach 100% of parent sign-up.
No parents are allowed in the building during arrival or dismissal unless you have an appointment.
All scholars should be dressed in our uniform requirements: gray bottoms, black or white polo, navy blue or black outerwear. No khakis, no white dresses, no navy dresses or bottoms.
All scholars should have a clear book bag; if you are in need of a book bag, please contact us.
Dismissal begins at 2:45 pm not 3:30 pm! Please plan to pick up your scholar by 3:15 pm.
All families must have PikMyKid downloaded to make it an easy and smooth dismissal process. If you don't have PikMyKid downloaded, the dismissal process will take much longer! Please update your PikMyKid app with the correct dismissal mode as that's how your scholar will be released.
Dependent walkers (k-3) are released from the side door with a parent or older sibling pickup. The parent must have their PikMyKid dismissal number.
K-3 Car riders and any older siblings of those car riders are released to the blue-zone (Cafeteria). 4-8 car riders are dismissed to the yellow zone (front of the building)
This is a partnership between home and school. We look forward to partnering with you for a successful 2023-2024 school year.

Emerging Legend Mini Project Based Learning:
Emerging Legend Identity Installation!
How can we as artists create self-portraits to express our identity?
Our Emerging Legends addressed this question through their micro-project centered on identity. Scholars began this reflective journey by reading and unpacking writer Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem, We Wear the Mask. Scholars also sought inspiration from Atlanta-based artist, Kimmy Cantrell, who is famous for creating asymmetrical masks to celebrate the beauty of our differences. Emerging Legends created their own asymmetrical masks to represent their identity through art.
Please be sure to visit the exhibit during the Back to School Bash, 08/24, and witness the creativity of our Emerging Legends!
