Feeling Thankful
Kindergarten is feeling Thankful! Our Kinders learned about Thanksgiving, shared family traditions, and who and what we are thankful for this holiday season. Mrs. Ryers' class made Thankful Turkeys. On each turkey feather students drew a picture of the person or thing they were thankful for.
Our dual language kindergarteners did a great job sharing what they were thankful for. Students used letter sounds to write in Spanish and matched their writing with an illustration. Students also
worked on a family project to complete our Kindergarten Turkey. Make sure to stop by and take pictures with our turkey at conferences.

Three Teacher Feature
Name Lisa Carmody
Position 5/6 LEAP teacher
Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
After working in business and raising my children, I realized I could achieve my purpose and fulfill a passion for helping others through teaching. Teaching in the area of special education is especially rewarding. I enjoy seeing students grow in self-advocacy and achieve those "aha" moments as they realize the "power of yet." I am always learning alongside my team and students.
What inspires you?
Professionally, I am inspired by those who continue to learn and pursue excellence, but also incorporate humor and compassion into their work and relationships. Having former students come back to see me or seeing them out in the community is also something that validates and inspires me as well. I find personal inspiration through nature and music.
What is your favorite quote?
Find joy in the journey. - unknown
Name Shelley Angelaccio
Position 2nd grade teacher
Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
I always knew I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others.
What inspires you?
It's all the little things that inspire me; the love notes and hand drawn pictures, being trusted with stories and wishes, reading a book and seeing the look of anticipation on a face, a gentle hug, a silly joke, and most of all sharing pure joy with a student when they have an "aha moment"!
What is your favorite quote?
Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. ~Aristotle
Name Kristine Mauro
Position Second Grade Teacher
Why did you become a teacher or why did you want to work in a school?
When I was in elementary school, I had not just one but many great teachers who made me want to become a teacher. They made learning fun and memorable, and were such positive lights in the world to all of their students. I knew I wanted to be that one day!
What inspires you?
My son, Benjamin, inspires me. He is six years old and has overcome many medical obstacles in his short life. Despite all that he has been through, he is the most positive and heartwarming little guy I have ever met with an energy and passion to explore and learn about the world around him.
What is your favorite quote?
All of our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.-Walt Disney

Inclement Weather- District Update
As we begin to think about colder weather, we are writing to share the 2023-2024 Emergency School Closure/Inclement Weather plan with you. As a reminder, in the event that we have significant inclement weather creating unsafe travel conditions or due to extreme cold, we will be utilizing an eLearning day this winter. This is a temporary change in practice to ensure we do not extend the end of the school year in order to preserve the days necessary to complete summer construction and all other shifts linked to Moving 15 Forward.
Should we need to call an emergency/inclement weather day, we will notify families through email, text message, and phone calls via our Blackboard Communication system. The information will also be posted on our District and school websites, as well as on the CCSD15 mobile app.
Communication and Notification
In order to ensure you receive timely notification of school closures as well as other school and District communication, we ask that you please take a moment to ensure we have the most up-to-date contact information in Infinite Campus (email address, phone number(s), and cell phone number to receive text messages). To review the contact information we have within our system, please log into Infinite Campus to check for accuracy. If you need assistance logging into your Infinite Campus, please reach out to your school.
Testing Emergency Communication System on Monday, November 20 at 12 pm
District 15 will be running a test of our emergency communication system on Monday, November 20 at 12:00 pm, when students are not in session. The test message will be scheduled to be sent via email, text message, robocall, and within the mobile app to ensure everyone is receiving messages from District 15. If you do not receive all three forms of communication, you can fill out this form for help.
Information about eLearning
Our Instructional Technology and Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Departments have been hard at work developing an eLearning plan in the event we need to call an eLearning day. As winter approaches, we want to share expectations and the answers to some frequently asked questions related to eLearning. A web page with additional eLearning information will be available on the district website should an eLearning day be called.
Thank you for your support as we prepare to be able to efficiently and effectively communicate with our families about any potential weather-related closures.
