New & Returning Teachers Gear Up for the New School Year
The first week of their return to campus, teachers from across the district spent time decorating their classrooms and preparing to welcome their students on the first day of school. They were excited and looking forward to an amazing school year.
Meet the Teacher Draws Hundreds of Families
Meet the Teacher Night was held across all our campuses on Aug. 9th & 10th. It was a great opportunity for teachers to introduce their classroom and teaching style to families as they stopped by to visit. It also allowed for teachers to create a relationship and establish communication with this year’s students and parents. For parents, it was a chance to get a sneek peek of their child's classroom set up and meet other families whose students will be in class with their child, preview the curriculum and say hello to the teacher.
New School Year off to a Great Start
August 14th marked the first day of school for teachers and students who were eager and excited to kick off another year of teaching and learning. Superintendent Dr. Angela Dominguez and members of the district's administrative team visited schools across the district throughout the day — from morning drop off to afternoon pickup — to ensure a smooth start for students and their parents. Donna ISD wishes everyone a great and successful 2023-2024 school year.

District Police & Security Guards Receive Ballistic Shields
Donna ISD's Police Department recently received 27 ballistic shields valued at more than $200,000 thanks to a grant that was awarded to the PD. In early August, our police officers were trained on how to use the shields as a defense mechanism while our security guards, featured in video below, underwent training that taught them how to assist an individual out of an emergency situation.
