2024-2025 COURSE SELECTION SEASON IS HERE!

All current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will have received their Course Request Form (CRF), CRF packet with instructions and resources, and a copy of their Del Norte transcript in the first couple weeks of February. Please review with your student(s) the information and resources available to support in the CRF selection.

You can locate all the CRF information as well a supportive resources on our counseling website Course Request 10th -12th Grade page found here.

We encourage students to discuss their course selection with their teachers to get advice and recommendations. If parents have additional questions for a counselor, please find the Parent Drop-in dates and times on our website.

Complete the online portion of your course registration between 2/15-3/08. Print a copy of the online selections, staple to the CRF, get parent/student signatures, include AP Contracts if applicable, and senior Double Off-Roll form if applicable. Due to 2nd period teacher on March 8th.

Del Norte Counselors are hosting parent drop-in sessions to answer CRF questions on the below dates. This is an opportunity for parents of current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Del Norte students to ask questions regarding class selections for the 2024-25 school year.

AP teachers will be available Tuesday February 6th - Thursday Feb 15th during student lunch. This is a great opportunity for students to meet with AP teachers to ask questions about class content and expectations. Schedule and locations are posted on the Counseling Home Page.

There will be an Elective Fair held during student lunch on February 27th in the Quad. Students stop by and meet Elective teachers and learn about all the great Electives offered at Del Norte.

Each year The Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo sponsors students from Del Norte High School to attend RYLA, which is a leadership training opportunity. Over 75 DNHS students have participated in previous years!

The attached packet contains all of the program details and the website information to apply. Please read it carefully and follow all instructions if you choose to apply. (Note: Since the deadline is during February break, you must email a copy of your application, essay & parent consent form to: rbrotaryryla@gmail.com

I hope that you have a chance to discuss this opportunity with your parents/guardians! Brief interviews by The Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo selection committee will take place in early March at DNHS. You will be notified if you are selected for an interview and more information regarding the interview process will be provided. If selected, there is no cost to the student to attend the leadership conference weekend.

AP Exams are optional exams at Del Norte High School that correspond to AP Courses. Students choosing to sit for the AP Exams must adhere to the following deadlines for 2023-24 that are based on the course's start date.

2024 AP Exam Schedule

For spring classes March 1, 2024 is the Registration deadline and LATE Exam Registration Deadline.

The cost of each AP exam is $110. each. Extra fees may apply for late exam registration. Fee Waivers may be available for students that qualify. Please see Mrs. Reich in counseling for qualifications.

Del Norte is hosting a meeting on February 12th during Office Hours in the Nighthawk Center for students that want to learn about the Armed Forces college track. This presentation will be given by a student that wants to share their first hand experience with paid summer internships and college ROTC admission. f you are considering the Armed Forces College track this will be a great opportunity!

Each winter and spring, the counseling department offers career presentations to our student body. This is an opportunity for students to learn first-hand about professions that interest them.

We are hoping to continue this tradition and are looking for parents in our Nighthawk community that would be willing to share information regarding their career journey. These are informal 20-30 minute lunch meetings that will be held in the Nighthawk Center during student lunch.

We try to align the presentations with our Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways. PUSD Career Technical Education focuses on the changing workplace that demands high levels of academic and applied knowledge and skill. Throughout the district, career pathway programs are offered in twelve of the fifteen high-growth industry sectors identified by the State of California. Juniors! Spring College visits are a good time to start your college search. The below college rep visits will be during Student Lunch or Office Hours in the Nighthawk Center. Stop by and meet the Representatives. Information will be shared about campus life, majors/career opportunities and scholarship opportunities. All grades are welcome!
