New This Week
Playing Uno
Mr. Jackson, OUR head custodian, has been an amazing addition to OUR school. This week, he sat down at lunch for a few minutes to play UNO with some of OUR students.
He claims that he won this game, but we'd have to check with these students to know for sure!

Cap & Gown Procession
Today we asked OUR teachers to wear their graduation cap and gown for the morning. We want OUR kids to be able to visualize what it looks like to graduate. We want them to have an image of graduation in their heads.
Thanks to the teachers who wore their caps and gowns, and participated in OUR procession.
Basketball Tryouts
Thanks to all OUR students who tried out for OUR basketball teams this week!

This weekend we begin OUR academic intervention program, which will meet this Saturday and three more. If you received an email invitation this week via ParentSquare (email, text, or app), please bring your child to join us this weekend!

Career Day Seeking Speakers
The Career Day Committee is seeking speakers to talk to our students virtually about their various careers on
Friday, November 17, 2023
10:00 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.
Are you a suitable speaker? Are you willing to take the time to talk to our 7th grade students?
We would greatly appreciate your help. Please provide the contact information of that person to Ms. Woods, Mrs. Blackwell, Ms. Morgan, or Mrs. Rosas.
We Need Photos for Yearbook!
- We are using the Josten’s Replayit Photo Upload system yearbook photo submissions
- Upload directly from your computer or phone
- Follow the prompts to select your pics
- Type something in the “First Name”, “Last Name”, “Grade” and “Description”
- Don’t want to include names? Just type a single character in those spaces and move on
- Same applies to skip the description
- Grade doesn’t matter? Pick 12 so we won’t group them by grade
- If it matters, pick a grade
The link and QR code are also on the EClass C&I page on the left under Media Center. We can’t wait to see your photos!!
Summerour Specific Information
IB Learner Profile: Balanced
During the month of October, we will focus on the IB Learner Profile: BALANCED
Students who are BALANCED are healthy and are aware that eating properly and exercising is important in their lives. They understand that it is important to have a balance between the physical and mental aspects of their bodies. They spend time doing many different things. How can parents help to develop students who are well-balanced at home?
- Encourage your child to participate in a wide variety of structured activities.
- During less structured time, also be aware of the activities that your child is participating in. Too much time in front of the computer or television is obviously not desirable, but all kids need to do a variety of things. Generally active kids should take time for quiet reading or reflection; students who spend a lot of time drawing or reading, should be encouraged to also exercise and play.
- Discuss the food groups with your child. Spend a few minutes during a mealtime deciding if what your family is eating is balanced.
- Role model this attribute. Spend time as a parent or family doing many different things.
Playing Sports?
If your child is interested in participating in any sport for Summerour Middle School (or in High School), download the Rank One mobile application or use the website www.rankone.com to create an account. Your information MUST be uploaded into this system before you are allowed to tryout for any team.
