From the PPCS Board
Dear PPCS families -
On behalf of Palouse Prairie Charter School School’s Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome our families back to school for the 2022-2023 school year! A special welcome to our brand new Kindergarten families and other families new to PPCS. We are so happy to have you as part of our CREW!
We are also thrilled to welcome Dr. Sara Beggs, our school’s new Executive Director. Sara has jumped in with both feet and we cannot wait for our students and families to get to know her better!
PPCS’ Board of Directors is the governing body of our school, so it is important that you all know who we are and how to get in touch with us! We are parents, grandparents, and community members who care deeply about Palouse Prairie Charter School and its students. We are charged with four primary responsibilities:
Fiduciary responsibility: ensure that our school is fiscally responsible and has the resources it needs to operate.
Policy governance: review and adopt policies that guide the operational decisions of the school in line with our values and with the law.
Strategic vision: create and hold a vision, mission, and goals for our school, in partnerships with the school community, teachers, and leadership.
Hire, supervise, and support the Executive Director.
The Board meets monthly, usually on the 4th Monday of the month. You can find information about upcoming Board meetings and approved minutes from past meetings on the PPCS Website: https://palouseprairieschool.org/school-board/. All PPCS Board meetings are open to the public, and you are always welcome to observe in person or via zoom. Most meetings include time for public comment, which is an opportunity for anyone to speak directly to the Board about topics relevant to the school. Information about signing up to make a public comment can be found on each board meeting agenda. If you have any questions about the PPCS Board, please contact me at jbearman@palouseprairiecharterschool.org.
Throughout the year, I will use the Quail’s Eye View as a periodic opportunity to check in with the school community, explain decisions the Board has made, or respond to questions that we have received. I look forward to our ongoing conversations!
Warmly,
Jessica Bearman, Board Chair & the rest of the PPCS Board:
