THANK YOU to NCSA for funding the new Primary Sensory playground with shade!

On Thursday, NC staff hosted a "Helping Hands" breakfast for our Parent Volunteers. We can not thank our parents enough for the time and effort provided to NC Students, Teachers, and School!

Each Grade Level Created a "Thank you, Helping Hands" Poster!

5th grade students had the opportunity to meet and speak with Olympian Gold Medalist, Courtney Mathewson, a Canyon HS Alumni! Courtney competed in the 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics!

Congrats to our NC Robotics Team Final Competition at Portola M.S.!

Student Council members organized and delivered the donated items for the Orangewood Foundation! Thank you to all who provided donations.

Donated items:

25 Shampoos, 24 Loofahs, 64 soap bars, 78 tooth paste, 170 mini items, 14 shaving creams, 50 body wash, 40 deodorant, 117 razors, 18 feminine products

Student Council Members helped decorate the NC Marquee!

Congratulations to Mrs. Pullin and Mrs. Ayala for each receiving a grant from the OUPSF, Orange Unified Public School Foundation! Thank you to Mrs. Truex (Past NC Principal and OUSD Assistant Superintendent) for delivering the great news! The Grants will be used to supply curriculum material for NC students! In total, OUPSF provided $45,000 in grants to OUSD Teachers!!

Students may have Free Dress for the final week of school. Please have your child still follow school policy on appropriate school attire, including proper shoes.

Promotion Dates and times are set!

Kindergarten Promotion

• Wednesday, June 7th @ 9:00 am (students can be signed out at end of ceremony to go home) (limit 4 family members per student)

6th Grade Promotion

• Thursday, June 8th @ 10:30 am (seating: 4 chairs per student, additional family members may stand near or sit on blue lunch benches)

i-Ready Reading and Math will be available for your child until Monday, July 31st, 2023!

By letting your child spend a brief amount of time each week (no more than 30 minutes for Reading and 30 minutes for Math) on their i-Ready learning pathway, they can enhance their reading and math skills over the summer.

Uniform Donations:

• Families have the opportunity to DONATE their used Uniforms, which will be available for discounted prices on Registration Day (August 15th)
• The Donation Box is available in front of the school this week

Tops – Nohl Canyon Uniform shirts are to be worn each day. NC Spirit shirts are allowed throughout the week, along with scheduled themed days (Wednesday = College day). Nohl Canyon allows Free Dress on the final Friday of each month.

Bottoms – Uniform bottoms are to be any type (jeans and leggings included) of solid bottoms with no holes, stripes, or patterns. Colors are Black, Blue, Khaki, uniform plaid.

2023 VPHS YOUTH BASEBALL SUMMER CAMP

WHO: Players ages 6 to 14

TIMES: 9:00am-12:00pm (July 17th to July 20th) & 9:00am-12:30pm (July 21st, Lunch will be provided)

DONATION: $250 and includes a Villa Park Baseball T-Shirt; Siblings that are registered at the same time will receive a $50 discount.

Come join us for a morning of valuable training that can prepare you and your family for emergencies and disasters at home or away from home. Children 10 years and older may attend with a parent.

Reminder to all parents - the Absence Hotline is available to leave a message when you know your child will be or is absent for the school day. Please make your absent call prior to 9:00 am on the day of the absence.

When calling, please leave your childs name, grade, and reason for absence

Nohl Canyon is beginning to see more students carrying their own cell phones. Please discuss with your child the guidelines for cell phones/communication devices (watches) while at school:

1) NO CELL from BELL to BELL - cell phones need to be turned OFF and stored in students backpack from first bell to dismissal bell.

2) Students who need to contact parents/guardians are expected to come to the front office to make the phone call.

3) Students who do not follow the guidelines:

1st occurrence: warning - expected to place phone back in backpack

2nd occurrence: cell phone confiscated - Parent Pick-up in office

The KIDS CORNER section of the newsletter will be a place to highlight our Roadrunner Students succeeding in outside activities. Nohl Canyon has a wide range of students in a variety of activities; Dance, Gymnastics, Equestrian, Cheer, Karate, Tennis, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey..plus many more. If you would like to highlight your child, please send Mr. Jones a photo and description of your child(s).
