Spotlight on Excellence
LEARN's Potential New Early Childhood School
In the last edition of LEARN News for Families, we highlighted an exciting prospect for families in the region - a potential new early childhood school. We are delighted to announce that 2024 already brought positive developments for this prospective school. On January 24th, the State of Connecticut's School Construction Projects Committee voted to approve its priority list, which included LEARN's new school proposal.
What does that mean? It is a significant stride forward in advancing this new school project. The School Construction Projects Committee will now draft a bill for submission to the Connecticut State Legislature's Education Committee where we hope it will meet with additional approval. For more on this potential new school, reach out to info@learn.k12.ct.us.

Regional Multicultural Magnet School
Students at RMMS continue to learn what it means to be global citizens who, among other things, are open-minded, caring, and principled individuals. Students and staff are preparing to celebrate Kindness Month in February in which students will be challenged to “catch” each other being kind. Kindness is at the heart of the great RMMS school community.
Marine Science Magnet High School
On January 17th, MSMHS students participated in a series of cultural lessons and experiences to learn about and celebrate Lunar New Year. The programming was led by MSMHS junior Zoe Wu with support from a team of about 30 peers. This was the school's second of three events held this school year to support their designation as an Anti-Defamation League (ADL) No Place for Hate school.
Three Rivers Middle College
Did you know that TRMC was the number one school in CT for college access and college credit earned? This week, students at TRMC started their second semester classes. In addition to a wide variety of college course offerings, students also enrolled in workforce education programs such as phlebotomy technician, veterinarian technician, real estate certification, and medical assistant certification. Students at TRMC are using their time in high school to get a jumpstart on their college education as well as their career pathways!
LEARN’s New Artificial Intelligence Committee
We are thrilled to announce LEARN’s new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Committee, dedicated to exploring the vast potential of AI in education. AI, the simulation of human intelligence in machines, holds incredible promise for transforming the way we teach and learn. The committee will play a pivotal role in learning more about how AI technologies can support educational goals for all while protecting student data privacy and academic integrity.
In the coming months, we look forward to actively involving students, parents/caregivers, and educators in this exciting learning to help shape a shared vision for an enriching and future-ready educational experiences.
