• All money for chocolate bars and trash bags was due November 3rd. Please get all money turned in ASAP.
• Any trash bag orders turned in after 11/14 will not be accepted.
• Trash bag orders can be picked up at 5pm Thursday near the cafeteria.

Turner Elementary Families,

The YMCA "Y Club" before and after care currently has scholarship opportunities for families who are interested in enrolling in the program and qualify for free or reduced school meals. The rate for qualifying families is $19.50 per week per child.

For parents who are not familiar with Y Club, they operate inside our school building. They open at 7:00 AM daily for early drop-off and stay open until 6:00 PM. Their program is fully-licensed and offers children a great opportunity to extend daily learning and have fun with their friends.

Qualifying families can enroll by emailing Stephannie Bennett at stephanniebennett@kansascityymca.org. You will need a letter from our food services department stating that you qualify for free or reduced meals. You can get the letter from our Food Services Coordinator, Megan Rabun, at boatrightm@turnerusd202.org.

Please direct any questions about the program to the YMCA.

Schoology is the LMS that all Turner schools, students, teachers and families will use to communicate about academics, celebrations, assignments, etc. If you have not signed up yet, please reach out to your child's teacher and they will give you their Schoology information.

Visitors

All exterior doors at Turner Elementary are locked when students are in attendance. For any visitor to gain access to the building, the buzzer system located at the front door of the school must be used. Office staff will greet visitors through the intercom system and will ask the visitor to provide information regarding his/her visit. At this time, all visitors will be asked to provide a government issued photo I.D. Office staff will determine if entry to the school will be granted.

Once entry to the school has been provided, please note the below expectations of our visitors.

• All visitors will be required to submit their I.D. through the Raptor Visitor System. A visitor badge will be provided by the office and must visible at all times.
• Before leaving, all visitors will be required to sign out of the office and turn in their visitor sticker to the school secretary.

Student Appointments

You may call ahead to the office to limit wait time if you need to pick your student up for an appointment. Please come into the office to check out your student. Students will not be released from the office after 2:45pm.

Turner Elementary starts promptly at 8:05 am. If your child will be tardy to school, parents must park and walk their child into the office to check them in.

The Turner School District grants every student ten excused absences for the school year. These absences must be authorized by a parent/guardian and may be for reasons such as illness, bereavement, appointments, or parental discretion.

Any additional absences must be accompanied by a doctor's note, or will be counted as an UNEXCUSED absence. Unexcused absences become subject to the truancy law outlined below:

Turner Unified School District 202 Board of Education Policy and the Kansas Compulsory Attendance Statute define truancy as a student who accumulates: 3 consecutive unexcused absences; or 5 unexcused absences within a semester; or 7 unexcused absences during a school year. Truant students under the age of 18 MUST be reported to the District Attorney's Office.

Car rider families will receive a number to display on their rearview mirror daily.

Please do not remove your car rider number until your child is safely in your vehicle.
