Flocking to Fletcher
As we roll into November, our small school, big family continues to grow. Excluding the new UTK class, we've welcomed 15 new students in the month of October alone with three more potentially starting next week! Outside of schools with large military family populations, this is extremely rare. Many of our newly enrolling families have heard about all the amazingness Fletcher has to offer and shared that our stellar reputation in the community is a big reason why they chose to enroll here! The secret is out, Fletcher is PHENOMENAL. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information about how we're making adjustments to support all of our new and incoming students.
THANK YOU PTA, once again, for an unbelievably successful Trunk or Treat event on Wednesday. The kids and adults who attended all had a fun time. Also, thank you to our community partners in safety and law enforcement, SDUSD School Police and SD Fire & Rescue - Linda Vista Engine 23, for joining in the good times.
This weekend, don't forget to set your clocks back Saturday night for Daylight Savings! Next week is a short one too. Both Wednesday and Thursday are minimum days, and school is closed Friday in observance of Veterans Day. The following week is Student Conferences. Monday the 13th through Friday the 17th are all minimum days.
Missing Anything?
Our Lost and Found is overflowing with clothing and items left behind at lunch and recess. Please feel free to stop by the office throughout the day, before school, and after school to claim anything your student may have left at school. All items not picked up before Thanksgiving Break (November 17th) will be donated to the Alpha Project- a non-profit organization that provides clothing to families experiencing housing insecurity.
Federal Impact Aid Survey DUE NEXT WEEK
Federal Impact Aid Survey
This week, your student brought home an incredibly important survey called the Federal Impact Aid Survey. It's also available on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. It takes LESS THAN TWO MINUTES TO COMPLETE. This survey is crucial to ensuring Fletcher Elementary receives the appropriate level of funding to support our students. If you can't find the form in your student's backpack and are unable to log into the Parent Portal, the form is linked below in English and Spanish. Paper copies are also available in the front office. Forms are DUE NOVEMBER 8th. Our goal is 100% participation! You can also download the forms at home, print, and return. Click either of the links below.
Student of the Week
This week's Student of the Week is Charley in Mrs. Wilsie's 1st/2nd grade class. Charley is one of our newest Falcons. She fits right in! Charley is always enthusiastic when learning new concepts and perseveres through challenging work. She has been working diligently to give her best work and effort throughout the day. Because of this, she has been making huge strides academically. She has already gone up three reading levels! In addition to being a hard working student, Charley is a wonderful friend. She treats everyone fairly, is compassionate, and helps people in need. Charley, we're so glad you came to Fletcher Elementary! Well done, Charley! Thanks for exemplifying what it means to be a leader at Fletcher Elementary School!
Welcome Ms. Wade!
We are thrilled to officially announce Ms. Angelina Wade as the newest member of the Fletcher Team! Ms. Wade's first day as UTK co-teacher with Mrs. Sperry was Monday and she jumped right in. The students absolutely adore her. Ms. Wade brings with her a wealth of early childhood education and UTK knowledge. It's going to be a magical year for our littlest falcons. Welcome to Fletcher, Ms. Wade!
Congratulations Emily & Musab!
A HUGE congratulations to Emily and Musab who have been recommended by their teachers to be reclassified as Fluent English Proficient. This is a massive milestone in a student's life. Students who enter school in California whose first language learned or primary language spoken at home is something other in English are identified as a Multi-lingual Learner (MLL). They receive extra support in the classroom and progress is tracked over time. Every spring, all MLL's take the Summative ELPAC exam to determine their current level of English Proficiency. To reclassify, the teacher must recommend the student based on their achievement in the classroom, and the student must score Proficient on the ELPAC. Both Emily and Musab have demonstrated excellence in both areas. Well done!
